***"Cocteau Twins"*** was a Scottish band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by ***[Robin Guthrie](https://cutt.ly/tvKpRaT)*** (guitars, drum machine) and ***[Will Heggie](https://cutt.ly/nvKpOu1)*** (bass), adding ***[Elizabeth Fraser](https://cutt.ly/AvKpDfq)*** (vocals) in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist ***[Simon Raymonde](https://cutt.ly/CvKpJR8)*** in 1983.
The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often abandon recognisable language, than on the subjective sounds and textures of verbalized emotions. They pioneered the 1980s alternative rock subgenre of dream pop.
***"Milk & Kisses"*** is the eighth and final studio album by ***"Cocteau Twins"***, issued by ***"Fontana Records"*** in March 1996.
The album finds the band in a comfortable rut, they've created, and now perfected, a style of music so distinctive that there seems to be little recent creative growth. The result is a beautiful, lush, but somewhat dated and unengaging sounding album that tends to wash over the listener without making any real impact.
It is, however, everything that a ***"Cocteau Twins"*** album promises - hypnotic, dreamy, awash in ethereal voices, and delicate, liquid guitars. Necessary for diehards and potentially interesting to those that have never heard the band before, ***"Milk & Kisses"*** says nothing, but says it beautifully.

***”Pixies”*** are an American alternative rock band formed in 1986 in **Boston, Massachusetts**. The band disbanded acrimoniously in 1993, but reunited in 2004. After Deal left in 2013, Pixies hired ***[Kim Shattuck](https://cutt.ly/Qng3OIr)*** as a touring bassist; she was replaced the same year by ***[Paz Lenchantin](https://cutt.ly/6ng3SPH)***, who became a permanent member in 2016.
Combining jagged, roaring guitars and stop-start dynamics with melodic pop hooks, intertwining male-female harmonies, and evocative, cryptic lyrics, ***"Pixies"*** are one of alternative rock's most influential bands.
They turned conventions inside-out, melding punk and indie guitar rock, classic pop, surf rock, and stadium-sized riffs with bizarre, fragmented lyrics about space, religion, sex, mutilation, and pop culture. No matter how much lyrics may have been impenetrable, the music was direct, forceful, and laid the groundwork for the alternative explosion of the early '90s.
***”Head Carrier”*** is the band’s sixth studio album, released on September 30, 2016 on ***”Pixiesmusic”*** and ***”[PIAS](https://cutt.ly/DnkqIva)”***. Produced by ***[Tom Dalgety](https://cutt.ly/vnkqDnZ)***, and recorded at ***”[RAK Studios](https://cutt.ly/1nkqKcA)”*** in London, the album is the first to feature former ***”A Perfect Circle”*** and ***”Zwan”*** bass guitarist ***Paz Lenchantin***, who joined the band in 2014 to tour in support of its previous album, ***”Indie Cindy”***.

A musical thank-you note to Deal written by Black Francis and sung by Lenchantin that shamelessly borrows from ***"[Where Is My Mind?](https://cutt.ly/pnlqXBF)"***, it manages to be both jarring and overly nostalgic.
But still, there is Indiecindyc feel that everything on the new release sounds like it could come from Frank Black's 177th solo album, that they still occasionally shine and reminds of how great this band once were. It's a meaby little bit of a matter of taste, but mostly a matter of wrong expectations?
While it feels like ***”Pixies”*** are still figuring out how to continue their legacy, ***”Head Carrier's”*** best moments suggest they're heading in the right direction.
