One of the easiest ways for us to start being more self sufficient and working towards our off Grid goal was to stop using all electric heat in our home and use only wood heat. The great thing about living on a property that is treed is that we are able to harvest our own fuel. We use our wood stove as our only heat source as well as a way to dry our clothes while not relying on an electric dryer. We are also able to cook on our wood stove, putting us one step closer to off grid living.
