Today's new video is a supplement to what I've been doing on the channel lately. Many makeup newbies have contacted me -- both privately and publicly -- to indicate that they'd like to learn more about makeup basics to get the most of their wigs and toppers. I realized that there are a lot of videos that cover specific techniques and products, but there weren't a lot of videos that covered a wide range of basics that focus particularly on working with skin imperfections, aging hooded eyes, and other real world issues that can't be adequately demonstrated on a 20-something model with perfect skin. (No shade intended at all -- it's just that most of us are not 20-something models!) I cover a broad range of basics in this 45 minute crash course: how weight loss effects your eyelids, how to select eye brushes for hooded eyes, how to select a primer, how to use fan brushes, what the different parts of makeup brushes are called, how to wash and care for your equipment, where to shop, natural fiber brushes versus synthetic, and much more! My hope is that by the end of it you have a better sense of what to look for in a makeup brush.  I also want to inspire some of you to start taking better care of your skin. It is never too late to start self-care. I know it can be difficult to muster enthusiasm about things like self-care when the world is such stressful place. Sometimes, though, feeling better needs to start with intention. The rest will follow. Action breaks up depression faster than anything. Do things on the outside that will help you eventually feel better on the inside, even if you're the only one who sees it. You are worthy of love, compassion, attention, and care...but all of that needs to start by being a gift you give to yourself. It can be as simple as washing your face somedays.
