Almost every swimmer reinforces their training with some kind of exercise outside the pool. There are many options available for your land workouts and it varies from age and accessibility of a coach. On this video we will talk about what I think is the most common which is going to the gym. These are my favorite exercises for each group muscle.

For the physics of the flip turn this is all you need to know. L = rmr
This video consists of three parts; the first one will explain this equation, the second one will explain the best flip turn technique and the third one what you can do to improve your flip turn.
What you need to know for L or angular momentum is that is stays the same throughout the spin. So when I rotate on my chair I have a certain velocity let’s say 2 km/h , that is V. A mass that is 75 kilograms and a distance of the mass in my extremities to the axis of rotation, lets say 100 cm. That means that the angular momentum is 15,000. That number will not change. So what happens if I change the distance of my extremities by making it smaller say 30 cm? Since this number must not change, the mass hasn’t change either, the velocity increases! to 3.33333333333 km/h. That’s how ice skaters can do this…
But what does that have to do with the flip turn? Well when you are swimming you have linear momentum but when you do a flip turn you transform that into angular momentum and this equation applies! The tighter you make the flip turn the faster you will turn! Just look at these examples.
In order to improve your flip turn then you must make your body into a small ball and for that you will need certain mobility to get into this position. Maybe you don’t have the mobility to be in this position, So try doing this for 30 seconds several days a week for a month and you will see improvements. If you want to practice the speed of your flip turn try holding to a wall and flutter kicking. When you are ready do a fast flip turn focusing on being tight, small and fast!
Another important aspect of the turn is the third law of newton.
Basically you need to convert that angular momentum into linear momentum again by pushing the wall. The wall will push you with the same amount of force that you push it. So make sure to not slow down coming into the turn because you will use that force to push yourself the other way, and make sure you use those leg muscles to push off the wall strongly!
If water gets in your nose when you do a flip turn or if you want to learn the basics of a flipt urn, watch the videos on this playlist.
Watching videos alone will not improve your swimming, you need hours of deliberate practice. If you want to practice but you don’t have a coach or you need workouts, we have a new workout for you every time you want to go swimming! This will help you be regular with your swimming practices and will keep you motivated. We offer three levels of difficulty the easiest being around 1,200 meters or yards each practice, then the moderate with around 2,400 and the hard around 3,500. If you are interested find out more at

Exercises for Freestyle swimming are very important.
I recently received this cool-looking piece of equipment from powerbreather to make an honest review on my channel. I had never used this snorkel in particular. After a few adjustments and a few swims, I realized this snorkel is great to do drills with. So I will go over some drills on this video. These drills can be done with or without a snorkel, but the point of the drill is to focus on fewer things and with this snorkel you don’t have to worry about the distraction of breathing.
This drill is called sculling. The main purpose of this drill is to get a better feel for the water. Intuition is an extremely valuable skill to learn in the pool and a better feel for the water develops your intuition. This will help you know how your muscles should move more efficiently through the water. This drill focuses mainly on the first part of the stroke.
While this drill focuses on the entire stroke. With this drill you can see how the hand glides through the water, how it starts to pull the water, when you bend your elbow and how you pull. These elements are very important and by actually looking at them you can quickly improve your technique.
This drill is a little more advanced, but it is on of the best ways to gain coordination. It also teaches you to keep you legs high on the water, which you should always do. In fact, if you don’t keep your legs up, you won’t be able to do this drill for more than a few strokes.
Coordination, feel for the water and intuition are all very important skills to improve on your kinesthetic intelligence, which I mentioned on the first video of freestyle.
I have many more drills, swimming hacks and stroke tutorials coming up. So make sure you don’t miss any! Click the subscribe button. If this video was of any value to you hit the like button. Finally please share it with someone that you think will benefit from watching this!

There are many questions about height and its relationship to swimming. The most common that we get are: Do tall swimmers have an advantage? … Why do the best swimmers we see on TV always seem so tall? … Does swimming make you taller?…
The first time I swam against a much taller swimmer was at Mexican Nationals. I qualified to the 100 backstroke final. I am 1.80 meters tall and I felt small next to the 2 meter swimmer. My friend Daniel was the shortest at 1.74. The tall swimmer was an Olympian and held the national record in that event. None of us could catch him. I remember thinking, if only I was that tall... a few years later Daniel broke the national record and then another Daniel even shorter than him broke his record. Now I realize that height is not as important as I thought.

On this series of videos we will simulate swimming movements and engage the same muscles we use while we swim each stroke. We won't have an intro or a long outro. That is because we want you to be able to play the video whenever you are ready and start the workout. The disadvantage of this method is that you don't have a strong warm up routine structured. So if you feel like you need to warm up beforehand you can use this video: https://youtu.be/tsneJbHM8IM

Skills NT got our first million views!
These tips and techniques will work best to help you improve dramatically your stroke if you do two things:
1- Focus on one thing at a time
2- Practice until you dominate that thing and move to the next.
I will also do another series of videos for the other strokes, including starts and turns. There will also be drills and other fun stuff, so make sure to subscribe!
I swam for 15 years in the competitive arena and I hope I can transmit my knowledge as clearly and simple as youtube allows me to. I plan on doing a couple of these to spread the knowledge I have acquired on swimming. I will do collaborations with people with even more knowledge and experience to do more advanced type videos.
Finally, what I am really passionate about is learning new skills. So the point of this channel is to spread the intrinsic joy that all humans share when we learn something new, doesn't matter how insignificant it might appear. I believe improvement makes us feel more alive and thus, if done right, make a better world.
So if you enjoy learning new things, swimming, dancing, drawing and other skills this channel is for you! So make sure to subscribe, watch, learn, practice and enjoy!

In the last video we talked about the importance of timing during breaststroke. We went over the first stage, which is the arm’s movement. On this video we will go over the second stage, the legs. The legs during breaststroke are essential because they will generate an important amount of propulsion of the stroke.
Recovery
Many beginners to the breaststroke tend to kick at a wrong time. The kick should actually start right when the hands are in the recovery stage about to shoot forward. You should bend your knees while keeping your ankles on a plantar flexion. Before the knees are completely bent, change your ankles to a dorsiflexion.
Out Kick
You are now set up in a very powerful position to kick. Your hands are now extended forward and are acting as the point of an arrow, cutting the water in front for the rest of your body. Now extend your knees as fast as you can. Remember to keep your ankles on dorsiflexion to grab as much water as possible.
Inside Kick
Now that your knees are extended, you need to do two things. Bring your feet together and put your ankles on plantar flexion. Keep your ankles like that until the recovery of the feet starts again.
As you can see, breaststroke involves all the muscles in your legs. So to gain coordination and activate all of those muscles you can practice doing this drill.
The third stage of the breaststroke is just as important as the other two. So make sure to subscribe and wait for the next video!
As always I will try to reply to all of your comments.
