So you’ve decided to go to therapy! Nice! ?
But… ?
Why don’t you feel like you’re actually making any progress with yourself? ?
You may even start second guessing your decision! ?
But don’t give up just yet! ?♀️
Turns out, deciding to go to therapy is just the FIRST STEP in the journey. ?
Think of therapy as the GATEWAY towards your best self instead of the end goal. ?
Attending therapy is good, but there are other things you can do by yourself that can boost your healing progress. ➕
One of these things is mastering the art of being able to rein in your thoughts and emotions. ?
Because not having a good control over these two things can be detrimental towards your healing progress, no matter what level of success you’ve already achieved. ?
How about you, what do you do to keep yourself from slipping and falling back down into your “rabbit hole”? ?️

Have you ever wondered why people get add!cted? ?
In this video, Bucknell University Professor Judith Grisel, psychology, a behavioral neuroscientist with a particular interest in addiction, discusses.
According to Professor Judith, a possible explanation for people falling into add!ction is that using a certain substance makes them FEEL normal.
She explains that this happens when the brain has grown accustomed to the substance's effect, and without it, can lead to the user feeling terrible. ?

Despite a US moratorium on gain-of-function research on the basis of it being simply too dangerous, Dr. Anthony Fauci continued funding it. If you don’t even know what gain-of-function research is, you’re not alone. In fact, there may even be a reason you don’t know. But this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the information offered up by returning guest, Pamela Popper.
Press play to discover:
1. How an investigation into the past of current World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General, Tedros Adhanom, leads to the discovery of a curious reduction of two million people from the Ethiopian census
2. How the use of public health and the threat of a deadly virus may have been a long-standing consideration as a tool for gaining global control (and how this idea is supported by Bill Gates’ clear intentions to depopulate and implement mandatory global vaccination as a prerequisite for participating in society)
3. Where this COVID-19 situation may be headed in the near future, and what factors will play an integral role
A Pennsylvania judge recently ruled that the coronavirus-related lockdown provisions are unconstitutional. Will this spur more people in power to take a similar stance? Not long ago, a top virologist and whistleblower who worked in the WHO reference lab told FOX News that the COVID-19 virus was not mutated from bats and did not originate in the wet market, but was engineered and deliberately released from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Will this compel more people to think critically about the narrative they’re being told?
There were three general groups of people when this whole thing started, says Popper, President of Wellness Forum Health:
(1) The people who were immediately frightened and convinced to believe everything they were told by mainstream news outlets;
(2) The people who immediately detected that something was amiss;
(3) And the people who were just simply trying to survive while their governments chose to pull the rug out from beneath them.
And now? Now, exhaustion is setting in—exhaustion over the arbitrary rules that aren’t justified by the data, exhaustion over being robbed of our civil liberties, and exhaustion over the double standards that aren’t hard to find. And now, the only groups gaining in numbers are the second and third.
Tune in for all the details.

Joining the podcast to address microplastic pollution is Aleksandra Tubić, Ph.D. Aleksandra is an Associate Professor and Chair of Chemical Technology and Environmental Protection at the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Sciences in Serbia.
With a background in chemistry, Aleksandra has fostered a deep fascination with the issue of microplastic pollution. Examining how microplastics interact with other pollutants at a chemical level has allowed Aleksandra to uncover many interesting facts about this complex issue – and in this episode, you have the opportunity to hear about these findings for yourself…
Join the discussion to learn about:
• When the research of microplastics began in the scientific community, and how it has evolved.
• What chemistry can tell us about microplastics and how they interact with other pollutants.
• Why microplastics show up in wastewater, and how they interact with other particles.
• What the future of microplastic research may hold.

Many neurological diseases are still regarded as scientific mysteries. Given the complexities that exist within our neurological makeup, figuring out how diseases interact with the nervous system is often very challenging.
Dr. Karen S. Ho is the Senior Director of Translational Medicine at Clene Inc. Clene is a “clinical-stage” biopharmaceutical organization that commits itself to the innovative treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. They do so using nanotherapeutics to target specific “cellular energy impairments” that are persistently present in many diseases.
Tune in now to discover:
1) The neurodegenerative diseases that Clene focuses on.
2) What Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is, and who can be affected by it.
3) Why neurodegenerative diseases tend to show up as we age.
4) The particulars of Clene’s drug, and how it works.
Is Clene part of the future of pharmaceutical research? Dr. Karen S. Ho is certainly the person to ask! Listen now to learn more about Clene and its mission to effectively treat neurological disorders.
Find out more about Clene Inc. and its therapeutic approach at clene.com.

Professor John Hogenesch studies circadian rhythms and the genome.
He talks about
1. The influence of cues on our circadian rhythm and how lighting and even medication timing can affect us,
2. Studies on hospital-specific lighting and how two new hospital wings in Cincinnati are designed accordingly, and
3. Some unusual sleep patterns, such as Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome, and how it can affect people.
Dr. John Hogenesch is Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Human Genetics and Immunobiology at the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics. He specializes in genome biology with a focus on the molecular mechanisms of circadian rhythms in mammals.
He explains to listeners the basics of circadian rhythm as a daily rhythm of behavior and physiology that persists in the absence of external cues. He discusses how healthcare and specifically hospital design and schedules are often at odds with most patients’ rhythms.
In fact, he mentions one study in which NICU patients under a cycled light schedule went home two weeks earlier than babies under constant dimmed light conditions. He discusses his hospital’s design of two new areas for NICU and PICU patients under the advisement of his lab that will integrate beds with circadian natural-light systems. He adds ways in which medication delivery and procedure timing could also be better paired with circadian rhythms and efforts to do so.
Dr. Hogenesch also talks about Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS). Richard has such a sleep pattern and the two discuss how it manifests itself, as well as other sleep patterns, and how they affect those who experience them. He also addresses how cortisol’s peak has an effect as well as how external cues interfere or work with our sleep patterns. For example, he mentions our eating timing, light exposure, and light temperature and type.
He discusses how the pandemic is pushing many of us to later sleep schedules and possible hypothesizes for why. Along the way he offers some suggestions for eliminating excessive blue and green light and other similar measures.
For more, see his lab page at cincinnatichildrens.org/research/divisions/h/genetics/labs/hogenesch and the Society for Research in Biological Rhythms, which publishes helpful blog posts and articles.

What does the future hold for us in the scope of near-future climate change? From drought to fire, new solutions are needed now more than ever.
Listen up to learn:
1. The difference between El Niño and La Niña
2. The California crops which significantly affect its climate
3. How groundwater recharge can help reverse adverse effects
Dr. Steven Ostoja is the director of the USDA California Climate Hub and has joined the conversation to share his experience battling climate change and to share a dire warning on what is to come.
Climate change has been an ongoing and widely known issue but has been altogether ignored for far too long. From the prospect of serious drought to the increasing severity of fires, the consequences will only continue to grow if no action is taken.
Using new technologies that can sense the areas of greatest benefits, groundwater recharge may hold the promise of protection from drought and pad our reserves moving forward. However, if fire management is not improved or rethought, relief may be difficult to come by, especially if suppression remains the primary solution.
