Belling Cookcentre 90G Gas Range Cooker
As part of a general rebuilding of our kitchen, we decided to replace our ancient Rayburn solid fuel cooker with something more modern and easier to use. At first, we looked for a dual fuel range cooker but when we discovered it would cost us the price of the cooker to have a suitable high power kitchen electricity point installed we decided to go for gas. We were also limited by size with 90 cm being the widest we could sensibly accommodate. Wirth out options thus reduced the 90 cm Belling Cookcentre seemed the best solution with Black our choice of colour.
The Belling Cookcentre is available in three finishes: Black, Stainless Steel and Professional Stainless Steel in three sizes: 90, 100, 110 cm. Both ovens of the larger models are wider and there are 7 rather than the 5 hob burners of the 90cm model we bought. There are standard rotary knobs to control the ovens and burners and buttons for ignition and illumination for the two ovens.
The cooker arrived very well packaged in a complicated crate made from wood and polystyrene but both the ignition and light switch buttons were loose in the packaging. Belling immediately sent us two replacements but in fact, these were not needed as the original buttons just clipped in place.
As range cookers go, priced at around £1000, this is a budget model and this is app[arent in the weight and overall feel of the unit. It looks great but the doors feel a bit tinny when compared to a high-end rival and the gas ignition has a separate button rather than the burners lighting automatically when turned on. That aside the appearance and functionality seem fine.
The cooker has five burners of varying sizes including a 4KW Wok burner in the centre. The grill is gas and works well although is low level and hard to monitor when in action and has an automatic fan designed to protect the knobs above the grill from damage. This fan and that for the secondary oven are quite noisy and remain on for several minutes after the burner is turned off. The main oven is gas and at 48L in capacity, I would describe it as medium-sized. More interesting is the secondary oven, 86L in capacity but not very wide and runs almost the whole height of the cooker. This oven is electric not gas and has an air circulating fan. To me, this is perhaps the main selling point of the oven as because it is the only electric powered component the oven can be connected using a standard 13 amp plug. Yes, unlike the majority of dual fuel cookers, this one can just be plugged into a normal wall socket.
In use, the cooker is excellent with just a few minor criticisms. The knobs for the burners and ovens are stainless steel with numbering on them that is very hard to read due to reflections.The fans are quite noisy and stay on for quite a while after ujse.
If you need a dual fuel cooker and don't have a dedicated electric cooker point, then this could be for you. Likewise, if you need an attractive and well-specified gas range cooker that will not break the bank this one could be a very decent buy. In the month or so we have had it, I have to say we are and remain very pleased with our purchase.

This two-piece smart downlighter set from Lumary is well made, robust, and easy to install and is worth paying a bit more for.
The kit arrived in a nicely designed product box with all the important information about the contents clearly given. Inside were the two downlights each with a hard wired two core cable attached. Also in the box were two cable connectors for each light and a well written, comprehensive, but rather small user guide. The user guide goes into detail about how to add the lights to the Lumary app and Alexa/Google rather than how to physically install the units.
Build quality could really not get better with each of the 5w 350 lumens LED lights made from resin and ABS plastic and having the feel of a quality piece of high-end kit. The IP20 (non waterproof) lights are good and bright and should be able to cope with high ceilings and large floor spaces. In white light mode, the units go from 2700K-6500K and are good and bright. The lights can also be used as coloured feature lights with up to 16 million colours available in a range of patterns and routines. Each light has a beam angle of 52° and can be physically rotated vertically up to 45°. One major selling point for me as they are designed to work directly with UK mains power with no transformer needed.
Although the lights can be turned off and on directly from the wall switch to take full advantage of them they should be used in conjunction with the Lumary app. Install the app to your phone, register an account and ensure the phone is connected to a 2.4Ghz wireless network (not 5Ghz turn the camera light on). The device can be added in several ways but I found the Easy Mode to be the best. Power on the light which should start flashing, enable Bluetooth on you phone, and press the button in the app to add a new device. The app should detect the light and then just follow the app walkthrough to connect up. If necessary Select 'Light Source BLE+Wifi'. Using the Lumary app, you can link it to Alexa or Google to get full home integration and voice control. Each light must be registered separately but can be controlled as a group when operated by an app or by voice.
It is best to get the lights setup with the Lumary app and Google/Alexa before physically installing the unit into the ceiling.
To fit each unit a circular hole of 75mm-80mm diameter must be made to allow the 70mm light rear panel to pass through and ensure you have a working depth of at least 40mm on the other side. The light unit is itself 37mm thick with an external diameter of 85mm, so the more working space the better. After connecting and testing the wiring to each light the unit can just be carefully pushed through the holes with the metal retaining clips expanding to hold it in place.
That done you can now control the lights together or separately with the Lumary app, Amazon Alexa or Google Home apps or by voice. The lights can be added to routines, so for example, you could set them to switch on and turn Red if an external camera detects movement, or white when you enter the home. If the network goes down they can be simply turned on and off using the wall switch.
This a superior product that is well made, very functional, and nicely presented. When properly fitted it should give years of service for a very reasonable price.

This handy and well made gadget is a tyre pressure gauge and also a Tire Pressure Monitoring Reset device for use with GM vehicles. I don't have a GM car and so can only test it as a tyre pressure monitor and as such, it is quick and easy to use with an easy to read display and a choice of four system modes
In The Box are just the device itself and a well written and easy to read user guide. The unit sits perfectly in the hand and is not too small or fiddly to use and despite the light weight feels robust enough for sustained garage or roadside use.
On the front of the device is the small LCD display which despite not being backlit is easy enough to read in daylight. Below this are confirmation LEDs for the pressure reading and TPMS reset operation status with between them a battery/power-on LED. On the front are the two large and easy to find buttons for tire pressure reading and TPMS reset operation. On the rear of the device is the large recessed power button. On top and on the left is the tire pressure reading probe and next to it is the stub antenna used to transmit the TPMS reset signal.
To take a tire pressure reading simply turn on the device with the rear button, confirm the power status LED is on and press the probe onto the tyre valve for 3 seconds, having removed the valve cover first. The green status LED will light and the reading will be shown on the screen. Press the left hand button to scroll through PSI, BAR, KPA and Kg/cm2 readings. The device auto resets after holding the display for 30 seconds with no need to manually reset or recalibrate.
To reset your GM tyre pressure system, which you may have to do after rotating the tyres or other tyre maintenance, just set the car to TPMS learning mode and the car horn will beep twice, hold the unit to the left front tire and press the power button on the unit, the car horn beeps once, then do the same for the front right, left rear and right rear tires with the horn beeping once each time and twice at the end of the procedure. It displays readings in the ranges: 0-150PSI / 0-7Bar / 0-7Kgf/cm² or 0-700KPA.
It should work with GM series vehicles (Chevy / Buick / GMC / Opel /Cadillac etc) equipped with 315/433MHz tire sensors, but not for large commercial vehicle systems.
That's it, that's all there is to it.
This is a simple, well made and easy to use device that gets the job done without making a fuss about it.
For me, it is a pretty good buy.

As you get older getting your shoes on is not quite the easy task it used to be and a shoehorn can make life much simpler. An extra long shoe horn like this means that shoes can easily be slipped on without needing to bend down. I am not at that stage yet, but time marches on for us all.
What you get here is a single long, well made and ergonomically designed shoe horn designed to make getting your feet into over-tight or poorly designed footwear less of a task than it would be otherwise.
Packing and presentation are minimal, which is fine for me, with the shoe horn simply packaged in a shaped plastic bag with protection for the handle grip. No paperwork or other items were included and none were needed.
The stainless steel shoe horn weighs 130g and is 30 cm in length (12 inches) with a hanging hook bend and handle on one and a shaped area to support the foot on the other. There is a hole on the grip end through which a short hanging strap is attached.
This shoe horn is robust, well made and designed for long term use. It is shorter than some which makes it easier to store and to manipulate when seated. I found it simple and easy to use and it sits well in the hand. The smoothly well finished metal construction means it will not snag on clothing, prove abrasive to the skin nor bend under stress.
Storage is easy as it can be hung from a radiator or any handy projection and is large enough not to be easily mislaid.
Priced at £6.45 this is not the very cheapest out there but this is a well made, cleverly designed item, built to last that may well make your life just a little bit easier.

My old drill finally packed in and so it was time to around for a replacement. I wanted a compact cordless model that would not be too dear and I am very pleased with this one, which I bought mainly because of the £39.99 price.
In the box, you get the drill itself, two 2000mAh batteries, a charger, a flexible extension bit, a hard carry case, a mixed set of drill bits and accessories, and a user guide. The included drill bits and accessories seem something of an afterthought and are supplied in a plastic bag but are a nice addition anyway. It seems a bit random to me but apparently, there are 3 x Twist Drill Bits, 3 x Brad Point Drill Bits, 7 x Screwdrivers, 9 x Socket Wrenches, 1 x Socket Adapter, 1 x Hex Screwdriver Holder, 1 x Flexible Shaft Driver. Build quality throughout is better than I expected and all seems well made and built to last.
Like most battery drills this one drill also has a screwdriver with a switch to flip left or right rotation and s touch-sensitive grip to get the very slowest speed.
It has simple and easy to use controls and requires no chuck key to lock the drill bit. It has two reversible continuously variable speeds - 0 - 400 and 0- 1600 rpm and a selectable 42 NM 19-stage torque control dial. There is a built-in light to illuminate the drilling area and status LEDs on the side to show the battery power level. Battery life seems good and as it takes only about an hour to recharge the spare battery it is unlikely you will need to stop work mid-job.
The drill itself is smaller and lighter than I expected which makes it easier to use but it seems to have plenty of power for light to medium work. I have used it on wood, metal and brickwork with no issues. For heavy duty work in metal or stone then a heavier duty mains powered drill might be needed.
If you need a budget priced cordless drill for general household use, then for less than £40 this is a pretty decent buy.

This well designed and compact sized Z style laptop stand from BoYata is not inexpensive at £29.99, but it is always worth paying a bit more for premium quality. Made from premium gauge Aluminium alloy it should give stylish support to any laptop between 7 to 14 inches., especially Macs, with which the silver brushed metal finish complements. This is the smaller and lighter brother of other laptops stands in the BoYata range and is better suited to smaller sized laptops and tablets.
In the box is just the laptop stand itself with nothing else needed or included. Made from aluminium alloy with silicone anti-slip protective pads on the base and supporting plate along with retaining lugs on the front, the stand looks and feels like a quality piece of kit. The joints are stiff and hard to set, as they should be, but move smooth and silkily and once in position do not slip, wobble, or feel like they will ever need tightening. Should the joints loosen over time, and there is no indication that they will, I can see no way of tightening them. The base is well weighted and even when the laptop is at full elevation it feels stable and secure.
Using it is obvious and intuitive, the only point to mention is to be sure to open and adjust the stand from the centre to avoid putting undue strain or skewing to any single joint. No adjusting Allen key is provided, unlike with some stands, and there are no slots to fit it to but with this lighter weight stand this should not be necessary.
Priced as it is, this is not a cheap item, but it has a build quality and premier feel that the cheaper rivals certainly lack. I would have liked to have received a soft carry bag to protect other items when carried together, but that is no deal-breaker.
This is a quality piece of kit with a high end feel to it and will be a fine addition to your home office.

This new massage gun from the strangely named EKUPUZ company is lighter in weight and comes with fewer massaging heads than many of the rivals I have tried but is less costly at just £29.97 before discounts (and yes, there are additional discounts) but comes with all the essential features needed as well as some extras.
Increasingly athletes and trainers are using this type of percussive massager for specialised muscle care rather than the older vibrating massagers. This massager type is easier to self administer and at just 650g is light enough for one handed use.
Massage guns such as this uses a stroke percussive technique which is said to be better for the deep tissue massage often needed by athletes. For this reason, the massager is perhaps targeted at the sports market rather than the mainstream healthcare arena. The usual percussive stroke distance is 12mm and despite the low price, this feature is included.
In the attractive box can be found the massage gun itself, six fearsome-looking heads, a USB charging cable, and a well written and informative User Guide. Unlike with most of the rivals, there is no bulky external charger or power supply needed, as the device can be charged from almost any USB outlet - be sure to use a port or adapter offering a full 5v/2A output, as some older or cheap units do not. Build quality of the massager although lightweight seems fine and the massage gun looks well capable of standing up to hours of use in the gym and at home.
The low-noise motor runs at up to 3300 rpm, with no less than 30 selectable speeds but this is offset by the slightly shorter running time, lower rechargeable battery capacity and slightly slower charging time. A 3 hour charge should give a run time of four to six hours or more.
The six heads, each with descriptive names just click in place and are just as easy to remove. They are each designed to target specific areas:

Using the massager is easy enough and pretty intuitive. After fully charging click your selected massage head into place, and switch on using the touchpad on the rear control panel. The backlit LCD on the rear of the massager’s head will show the current massage speed and battery level with touch buttons to select the massage speed and start and end the massage.
This device can be used both before and after workouts to tone and soothe strained muscles or to prepare for a strenuous exercise session. Take care only to use on soft tissue areas and not directly on hard or bony areas or the head. Commonsense will tell you to also avoid bruised or painful areas. When in operation take care to keep your fingers away from the gap between the oscillating head and the body. This is not an error you will make more than once.
The effect of using the unit is immediate and dramatic and due to the power of the device, it should be used with care. It does a good job of imitating the pummelling massage technique often used in sports therapy and does seem to work for specific toning techniques. The noise level is low and at just 45dB at the maximum 3300 rpm speed in no way either annoying or distracting. The unit will switch off automatically after 10 minutes of sustained use to prevent tissue damage.
I have tried quite a few massagers of this type and this is the least expensive and simplest to use I have yet tried. It has a slightly reduced maximum speed, battery capacity and marginally slower charging time than the more expensive rivals but it has no uneeded whistles and bells but all the key features of a massage gun are here. It is built to professional standards if not for Pro use and I think should last for years. If you need a sports massager, I doubt you will find a more powerful or better equipped one than this for the low price.

I chose this new lighting kit from PHILED to use as a cupboard light but in fact, it has a range of uses including that of an under bed light
In the bag, you receive the 1m self-adhesive LED lighting strip, a UK power adapter, a combined motion detection sensor and control box, and a fixing kit consisting of a set of double-sided sticky pads. A small single sheet user guide is included but this is not needed as the installation is self explanatory. It is a pity no spare mounting pads are included, so be sure to get it right the first time.
Build quality all seems fine with nothing looking likely to fall off or fail any time soon. The whole kit is lightweight but well made enough to get the job done.
Installing is easy enough, everything comes with sticky mounts and everything you need is included in the pack.
The 8mm wide strip has a separate combined sensor and controller with a rotary dial to vary the time the light stays on between 10s - 15min but no way of limiting the 3m sensitivity range of the sensor or the brightness of the light. Although the LED strip cannot be extended it does have cut points so it can be trimmed to the length needed. The connecting cables are well made, long and robust. However, the rather thick LED cable can be a bit obtrusive and hard to conceal. One thing I don't like is that the LED strip uses a non-standard connector and swapping or extending it could be difficult. It is a pity that standard multi-pin strip connectors could not have been used. One good thing is that the LED strip has an easy to remove backing tape from the self-adhesive layer, unlike the last set I tested.
In place, the set looks good with a warm, bright, even and flicker free light. Take note that the 240 lumens light is indeed bright and has no option to dim it.
This is a simple, versatile and easy to use lighting kit although at £13.99 there are cheaper rivals, but this is a good kit and will get the job done for you.

I have tried quite a few disco lights of this type but at last, this one brings something new to the table.
In the attractive mid-market box you get the disco light itself, USB power cable, remote control, a ball and socket suction mount and a well written and easy to read if rather a small User Guide. I enclose a scan of the User Guide in the unboxing video.
The light and mount are made of plastic and this is where the budget price has to be paid as more costly rivals of the same design are made of metal. The remote control is quite small but the buttons are well marked and have a positive feel to them. Although the disco light is made of plastic so far my unit has shown no signs of packing and seems capable of staying the course.
The low power consumption and the USB power source means the unit can be easily used outdoors if connected to a powerbank or similar power source. However, don’t be tempted to use this outside if there is any sign of rain, as this device is not water-resistant or designed for outdoor use.
Two features make this disco light stand out from its many rivals. Firstly, this one comes with a suction ball and socket mount. which allows it to be mounted to almost any suitable surface and then precisely aligned as desired, although it can also be fitted to a standard tripod screw mount. It also has a ring of 27 multi-coloured LEDs that fully encircle the base of the unit. This secondary light source makes a big difference to the nature of the light display.
Operating is easy enough. Just plug in – there is no Off/On switch – select the mode and features you want from the remote, and there you go. The supplied power cable is quite short and so an extension cable may be needed. It is good that the light uses a USB power source but annoying that the connection to the light unit itself is non-standard. There is a very slight noise as the internal light wheel rotates but this would be no problem in normal use. The ring of external LEDs does add quite significantly to the overall effect and is a nice addition to the unit.
The remote allows you to select various lighting colours and combinations (R, G, B, RG.RB, GB), a stroboscopic lighting effect, auto colour scrolling, and all with a rolling rotating light wheel effect. There is a music-controlled mode determined by the internal microphone which allows the lights to pulse in time with sounds over 48db.
The lighting effects are very effective and would be perfect to give atmosphere to a party or small disco. The £16.99 price for a sophisticated remote control unit such as this is very good indeed although for long-term or professional use a more expensive and more robust unit might be better.

Currently reduced to a crazy £69.99 on Amazon the Crosstour CT9500 action camera shows just how much action cameras have developed over the years. The video and image quality from this camera is hard to beat at this price to say nothing of the feature set and multiple accessories included in the pack.
The camera and accessories arrived packaged in a muted and rather down market box that suited the price but not the contents. A good range of accessories and mounts are included, too many to list here but they are all shown in my video. Although some more expensive cameras may have a few more items included, all that most users will need are included. The only notable omissions are an SD card and a wrist-mounted Off/On button or physical remote control. It could be said that the wrist mount feature is included in the phone app but phone control is not a practical option when engaged in active sports. It is a pity too about the SD card as they are cheap enough these days and would not add greatly to the cost and would allow the camera to be used straight from the box. That said, the kit does include a second battery and an external charger, both very welcome additions to the kit. The printed User Guide, much superior to those usually found, is a decent size, well printed, and easy to read.
Physically the 61 x 45 x 24 mm camera has a more rounded and modern design than most of the older rivals and is a pleasure to use. All the buttons are easy to locate by touch and follow the convention action camera format. The 2″ LCD screen is above average in quality and brightness but is not touch-sensitive. On one side the side is the grommet protected panel housing the USB, micro SD card and HDMI ports, on the other side are the Up/Wifi and Down buttons and the microphone, on the base is the battery compartment. At last here is a battery port that is secure but easy to open and a shout out must be given for that.
The camera has four basic modes of operation accessed by short pressing the power button on the camera top: video, photo, playback, settings. It has HDMI video out and so can be connected directly to your TV, although a separate micro-HDMI cable will be needed for this. It can also be connected directly to a PC or video display to view files and function as a webcam.
There was a time when mid-range action cameras gave you grainy, low-resolution video with colour casts and artefacts, but those days are gone at least as regards this camera. Video quality is certainly amongst the best I have encountered for an action cam in this price range, and a definite step up from the cheaper no-name GoPro clones of the past. Unlike with so many others, here there is no substantive daylight colour cast. The 170° wide-angle lens is great but with the barrel distortion common to all of this type You can correct for this in the settings by reducing the field of view, but I suspect this may be achieved by simply electronically cropping the image. Image stabilisation is also available and although not perfect does make a difference. The camera does an excellent quality 4K@50fps ( 3840×2160), better again than any I have tested in this price range. Personally, I find a good quality 1080@60fps to be far more useful and consumes far less card space. Still images were equally good and free from colour fringing or casts. Remember that the sample footage in my unboxing video will have been heavily compressed during posting and not reflect the true quality. I would say the image quality and features are comparable to those from a mid to high-end phone.
The camera is claimed to be waterproof to 40M and I have no reason to doubt it. It should certainly be fine for all normal swimming and diving use.
The camera settings mode can be accessed using the rear screen and this is one of the best I have tried so far with multiple and easy to read options large and bright enough to be used outdoors. The settings can also be easily changed using the YUTUPRO Wifi app. The camera comes with two large capacity 1350mAh batteries and an external charger although the camera itself will charge the battery when plugged in. One three hour charge should give you around 90 minutes of 1080p footage.
