Williams World Cup Restoration Complete! (Dr. Dave's Pinball Restorations)
1978 Williams World Cup. First Williams game with solid state sounds instead of chimes. Over 30 hours work went into this mini restoration. Rebuilt the MPU, Driver and Power Supply board and installed a rebuilt master display driver board as well as replaced a dead player 4 display with a used display in an attempt to keep the over all cost of this restoration as low as possible. Cleaned and adjusted all playfied switches, replaced all playfield and backbox pight bulbs and a few worn out light sockets, rebuilt the flippers and pop bumpers and dialed in the spinner to give maximum spins. Spent many hours hunting down wiring issues with the display/mpu connections as they were very intermittent and problematic. Buffed the metal wire trip switches and the metal upper apron and the 2 upper ball gates. New rubber all around as well and rebuilt the shooter asembly. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer playing World Cup. Lots of time and parts went into the shopping out of this 1989 Pat Lawler Williams classic ramp game from the late 80's. Rebuilt the drop target assemblies, pop bumper assemblies, flipper assemblies, stand up targets and installed a combination of Premium Titan silicone rubber and standard rubber. Cleaned under the feature lamp inserts and fixed switch matrix issues that were plaguing this game as well as made sure all the lighting is back to working shape. Updated the MPU board with NVRAM to get rid of the troublesome battery back up that tend to leak and corrode the MPU board over time. Looks and plays like new now! drdavespinball@gmail.com

Over 25 hours went into this refurb of this Star 80 series Gottlieb wide body pinball machine from 1980. Re-pinned ALL the single edge connectors going to the new Pascal all in one board in the head of the game. New 5V cap on the power supply. Refurbed all 4 flippers and cleaned and adjusted all the playfield switches. New rubber all around and full high end LEDs in the GI and the feature lights. Touched up the badly worn to the wood sections of the playfield and touched up the cabinet. Reglued and levelled loose playfield inserts and cleaned under each playfield insert. Plays like new now and very reliably.

I bought this game locally 2 months ago from the original owner who bought it brand new in 2004 as he was a Simpsons fan and thought his kids would love to play it. Unfortunately his kids preferred X-box.
Game is in the beautiful condition (as Close to New In Box condition as you can get without the box). The original sales receipt is not with the game but it does have the goodie bag in the coin box and the original pristine manual.
You'll see from the inside and outside of the game that it wasn't played much. No burned out bulbs, well lit playfield. I just freshly buffed clean the playfield which was already clean with novus 2.
Plays and looks as new. FOR SALE: $4,800

70+ hour restoration went into this Firepower to make it play like new again for fun and reliable optimized game play. All mechanics rebuilt as well as metal buffing and board rework and bullet proofing. This is by far Williams Pinball best game from their early solid state time period. 2nd pinball machine to have speech. The first was Gorgar. Steve Ritchie and Eugene Jarvis collaborated on Firepower and Atari's Superman. Visit us at pinballdoctor.com for all your pinball restoration needs. =)

A customer brought us this game that they received from a pinball hobbyist who performed a playfield swap and a cabinet re-stencil as well replaced all the circuit boards in the game with repros. However after all this work, the game just didn't play well. It looked great, it just didn't play well. This was due to old rubber being on the game, nothing rebuilt under the playfield such as pops, slings and flippers, no connector work done so much so that the connector pins would just fall out of there housings and or their poor solder crimps merely by a slight tugging on the wires. We performed close to 20 hours additional work to this game to make it truly play as good as it looks. Buffed the chime bars and rebuilt them as well as the previous restorer used the wrong grommets on the chime bars so they "thudded" more than rang as they

Approximately 100 hours went into this restoration. Including completed tear down of topside and underside of playfield. Deep cleaned and then touched up and automotive clear coated then rebuild all assemblies and re-installed back onto both sides of playfield. All metal buffed to a mirror shine. New playfield plastic set, new clear silicone rubber. Retofitted with WPC type flipper assemblies mated to Atari flipper bats for acurate but strength appropriate flipper feel for this title. Warm white LEDs installed for the general illumination circuit. Rebuild all circuit boards and touched up cabinet and head paint.
We have one more of these that will come out exactly the same including the touched up and autoclearcoated playfield. Truly looks like New Old Stock and looks and plays like day one it hit the acrade way back in 1978!
