There are a lot of rumors going around online about the supply of Blackhorn 209 and if the Hodgdon acquisition last year was just to squash some competition. In this video we set out to answer these questions and stop the rumor mill about Blackhorn 209.

In this installment of Craftsman’s Corner, we’ll be creating a basic “money” wallet to carry your cash, as well as a few modern necessities such as driver’s license, business cards, and that evil plastic, because after all, nothing says farby like whipping out that modern, machine sewn nylon tri-fold to pay for goods at an event

Organizers feared rain would put an end to the fun, but the skies stayed clear through the weekend and made for great shooting. The annual match dinner was held inside the NMLRA Education Center. During the dinner, Match director Lora Parks took time to thank the attendees and draw prizes donated by the generous sponsors.
We’d like to thank the BPCR Regional Prize Donors:

We sit down with Joe Barnes, age 94, to hear some stories about his first trip to the NMLRA in 1937. Joe returned the following year, 1938, to help organize and then win the first-ever NMLRA junior match with a score of 44 out of 50.
Joe is the last living member in our panorama photo from Dillsburo in 1938. We'd like to thank Joe and his family for letting us film and document his stories.

Follow along as black powder cartridge double rifle enthusiasts work their way through the Safari Course at the Walter Cline Range in Friendship, Indiana.
This match was shot exclusively with original double rifles. From muzzleloaders like the Whitworth to black powder cartridge rifles like the Heinrich Leue, there were some real beauties on the range.
Targets varied in distance from 30 yards to 50+ Yards from the marksmen and were stationed just beyond the treeline to replicate a real hunt as much as possible. Be sure to comment below if you'd like to see more of these matches. It's not everyday you get to go on a big game hunt in southern Indiana.

Find your casting supplies - https://www.nmlra.org/shop-small
While it can be easier to purchase your round balls from your local or online sporting goods store, it's also a lot of fun casting your own.
One of the main questions everyone has when wanting to cast their own lead roundballs for their muzzleloader is, "Where do I find Lead?"
Finding lead isn’t as easy as it used to be, but it’s not difficult either. Here are a few of our tips on finding lead for your roundballs
Ask your local roofers and plumbers
Many of these working professionals replace old lead fixtures from time to time and have been known to sell or gift it to muzzleloaders in their local area. Be sure to be nice and respectful, and maybe invite them to your local shoot and get them in on the fun.
Visit your local scrap yard
Lead that isn’t picked through by muzzleloaders often finds it’s way to the scrap yard. Checking in from time to time and leaving a phone number is a good way to get a hold of some bulk lead to keep you shooting. If you live near any manufacturing industries, it might be easier to find!
Ask around at your local muzzleloading club or events
Visit NMLRA.org/charterclubs for a list of muzzleloading clubs around the country.
The members of your local muzzleloading club might have some extra lead, or know of someone in the area that has some for sale that you might be able to find. If not, you still have the chance to meet up with some muzzleloaders in your area and spend some time with good friends.
As we prepare to take our new Traditions St. Louis Hawken to the range, it's time to start gathering our gear. First up, we need something to fire out of our muzzleloader, we're going to need some lead roundballs.
You can purchase roundballs online, or from any local muzzleloading shop or sporting goods chain, but it can be a lot of fun to learn how to make them yourself.
In this video we'll walk you through the basics of casting some of your own muzzleloading round balls that will be perfect for a day at the range, a day in the field during muzzleloader season, or at your local rendezvous!

In this episode we finish up our talk with living historians Eli Froedge and Jason Jacobs at the 2019 Feast of the Hunter's Moon to talk about their dugout canoe expedition of the Wabash River.
This is part 2 of a short 2 part series after meeting with Eli and Jason.
Eli and Jason are dedicated to living the history of our forefathers, crafting their clothing, tools, and accouterments for their historical treks into the wilds of Indiana.
Some may refer to them as reenactors, but they prefer "living historians", following the guides set by books and journals from early America. When they trek into the woods, they are using their gear to survive, this isn't just camping in fancy clothes.
The NMLRA exists to promote, support, nurture, and preserve our nation’s rich historical heritage in the sport of muzzleloading through recreational, educational, and historical venues.
Additional photos and videos of the expedition provided by Jason Jacobs, Eli Froedge, and Heath Hoffman. Thank you for letting us use your photos and videos!
