Press Conference: Charter Challenger Affidavit Announcement
I have served my affidavit to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, which was the next step in my Constitutional Challenge of Ontario’s Elections Finance Act. My original Notice of Application was served in May of 2019.
Current Election Finance laws greatly favour party candidates over independents, creating significant hurdles and barriers that other elected members do not face.
If successful, my challenge would give independent minded, conscientious objectors the ability to compete with the party brands on a level playing field, and it would end the discriminatory policies that make it nearly impossible to be elected as an independent member who desires to represent his/her constituency rather than to represent a party brand.
