This lack of rain means that the road surfaces build up a residue of grease, oil, exhaust emissions, and other fluids. When it finally does rain, this grease layer turns the roads into a dangerously slippery surface that is best to avoid. If you have to drive, wait until it rains enough to wash away this greasy layer away, or even better, wait until it stops raining, because, for some strange reason, no matter which country you are in, when it starts to rain all the idiot drivers get into their cars. 2. Don't Drink The Tap Water. Although California is a large state with over 7000 public water systems, only 4000 are regulated by the Division of Drinking Water and at least 300 of those that aren't, are out of compliance with basic drinking water standards. Don't Think California Is just L.A. And San Francisco. A thing you need to know about "Cali" is that it's not just made up of L.A. or "Frisco" as we see in the movies. (Also never call California "Cali" or San Francisco "Frisco" or "San Fran"). California has National Parks, Beaches, Vineyards, Snow-capped Mountains, Deserts, and Redwood forests.
