The Gomti, Gumti, or Gomati River of Comilla is one of the famous rivers in Bangladesh. It is a hilly river having a strong current in the rainy season. It is a tributary of the Ganga River. Coming from the northeastern Tripura state of India, it enters Bangladesh near Catak Bazar of Comilla Sadar. The Gomti is about 137 km long within Bangladesh. Its flow varies from 150 to 25000 cusec at Comilla. Comilla, Mainamati, Muradnagar, Daudkandi, Burichang, and Companiganj are some important places on its banks.
