How to install Tor as a proxy on Ubuntu.
In this video I will show you how to install Tor and Privoxy on Ubuntu 19.04.
sudo apt install apt-transport-https curl
sudo -i
echo "deb
https://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org/ $(lsb_release -cs) main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tor.list
curl
https://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org/A3C4F0F979CAA22CDBA8F512EE8CBC9E886DDD89.asc | gpg --import
gpg --export A3C4F0F979CAA22CDBA8F512EE8CBC9E886DDD89 | apt-key add -
apt update
exit
sudo apt install tor tor-geoipdb torsocks deb.torproject.org-keyring
sudo apt install privoxy
Now time to setup the config for Privoxy...
Paste at the end of the file.
sudo nano /etc/privoxy/config
forward-socks5 / localhost:9050 .
sudo systemctl restart privoxy
Now this is optional but to increase the speed of the network and keep things in english, this is what I do.
sudo nano /etc/tor/torrc
Paste at the end of the file.
ExitNodes {US}
StrictNodes 1
sudo systemctl reload tor
Now open your proxy settings in this video I am using KDE Plasma, but depending on your repo it will be different.
