At Gnomedex tech and culture conference in Seattle, Jay (aka Unabonger or Cosmo) and Dave (me, Uncle Weed) offer Canada Day wishes and recap Broadband Mechanics and Marc Cantor's mighty party, the absurdity of stealth start-ups and venture capitalist, Dave Winer who created RSS, and preview PT of Make Mag and check out the t-shirts, lounges while walking into the conference for the official Canadian recognition and seeing Tara Hunt and so on. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjb390CyQUE
Quickly before running a bath, Dave – regaining equilibrium – discusses creation of a slightly-delayed but very-pleasurable project, ergo: “Time Travelers“ handmade cards including outfits, printing techniques and paper choices, fire hazards, inky & postal stamps, and fingerprints.
Plus riffs about carrying on in strange times, wonderful events, fountain pens and puppets. And expressing gratitude to friends who sent cards and letters, often reciprocated by Hokusai woodblock prints and/or "cheap and cheerful" time traveler cards.

A wee snippet from a coffee shop balcony of a ceremonial parade in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. The island residents mostly practice a mix of Hinduism and Buddhism (most of the rest of Indonesia is predominantly Muslim) and there are frequent ceremonies, constant offerings, and shrines, temples and the like most everywhere.

In the studio barn, anxious on account of an impending medical and other “life admin” project, Dave reads from a variety of slim-sized (mostly) books of poetry, discusses book layout, design and publishing styles and pathways, relates some anecdotes about writers & how the books came to be here. Plus a few musings and projects of his own – while trying to calm a weary head and body.
(I will add a proper list of books and writers, soonish, not right now)

No surprise whatsoever, Dave, surrounded by scrapbooks, well-designed books, unfolded laundry, impressive selection of washi tape and a vessel of homemade miso – and feeling a little tired – looks ahead to 2022 with schemes and dreams including:
compiling/creating a book called “a circumnavigation, of sorts" with freeverse poetry, snippets of diaries, scraps of letters, forgotten lists and possible scribbles;
(the usual of) taking care of health and being a great husband and papa;
making more scrapbooks and collages;
maybe even some paintings of post boxes, payphones and portals.
Plus tidying up digital odds and ends, stepping up some skills and figuring out how to space out and rest and relax (per Doctors' orders).
Ichiro makes an appearance as Dave also sends a special *hello* to those who are dealing with some health challenges including uncle in Michigan, a young postcard maker in Sri Lanka, and Larry sensei, and possibly you.
Finally, after reviewing a litany of scrapbooks of plans, poems, correspondence and other oddities from years past, offers encouragement to share your intentions for the year ahead and reflections on years past in whatever medium you fancy.
Oh yeah, calendars and sweater thanks to Shawn P.

Hello from a suburban strip mall, we’re on our way to West End for Stanley Park hang outs. From today (19) to 25 when we float plane to Victoria.
Staying at Marriott residence inn on Hornby near Davie, plannig on parks every day, bring picnics and thermos. We’re really trying to not go much beyond are the small radius.
We also have gifts, it’s a great time to meet up. Keep in mind traveling with a toddler means everything happens at toddler optimized time ls + I am delicate/fragile.

From a rainy porch, gratefulness for friends with kind words and packages, minimal commentary about ridiculous Olympics and various public health situations, hello to my favourite arborist and rain songs ++ tree doctor tests, Kerouac exhibits, future global expeditions with in-laws and importantly, the elusive D chord.
