As we in the US gather with friends and family for the Thanksgiving holiday, many of us will be giving thanks for the way of life we enjoy and for the bounty that we are given in this fine land.
I thought it prudent however, to point our that we as public land owners would be wise to also give thanks for our access to these lands. People of great vision fought tirelessly over the past 150 years to maintain these lands for the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People. Today, public access to the these great gifts is under threat. So as we give thanks, we must also commit to remaining vigilant in the defense of public access to our lands.
Thank you as always for tuning in, and as we enter the holiday season, I would like to wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving from Park Junkie!

Park Junkie heads to the Nation's Capitol to bring attention to the issues of continued public access to public land, and Free Speech restrictions on public land.
If you love your National Parks and public lands, and you want to enjoy continued access to these lands, you need to take action NOW!
Please write your Congressional Reps, and your Senators, because they are the only impressionable shot we have to return our National Parks to the people. Corporate interests are taking hold of the entrance process to our public lands right before our eyes, and the Rec dot Gov system will eventually take over every aspect access to outdoor recreation on public lands.
I have posted a letter to our Senators on the home page of my website, https://parkjunkie.com/letters-to-you..., along with a link to a contact page that will provide quick access to both of your Senators' Contact page.
You can simply copy and paste this letter into their contact page, and hit the send button. This is a quick and painless process, but the impact of a painless action today, may help preserve our Free Speech rights, and access to public lands for generations to come.
If at all possible, send this letter to both of your Senators, as well as the members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, for whom I have included a contact page as well.
Thanks again, Todd C

Yeah, you read that title correctly. Montana Congressman and former Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke sounded off on the reservation systems in his district's Glacier National Park, calling the permit scheme a "total scam" in a Tweet from March 1, 2023.

Glacier National Park is not just the Crown of the Continent, it is one of the crown jewels of the national park system. It's mountain scenery is nearly unparalleled and a visit to Glacier is a lifetime event for many who pass through its gates.
Mountain goats haunt the upper regions of the park while grizzly bears prowl the backcountry in search of sustenance for the long winter ahead.
Hikers and adventurers enter the Glacier wilderness with caution, as they know that this terrain belongs to the beasts.

Mount Rainier National Park is making its move toward privatizing the entrance process to "The Mountain".
The park is required by law to announce this move, and to seek public input regarding the decision. So.... let's tell them what we think!
Here is a link to the press release, and below that is a link to the form that you can submit to obtain a link to the meeting. It is short and sweet, so go ahead and plan to attend this meeting if at all possible.
