BMW iX3 (2021) Fully Electric SUV – Can It Compete With Tesla Model Y?
The new BMW iX3 also embodies the strategic “Power of Choice” approach with which the BMW Group is covering the broad varietyof customer requirements and statutory regulations around the world. The BMW X3 will be the first model to be available with highly efficient petrol and diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid system or a pure-electric drive system. The market launch of the iX3 will begin later in 2020, when sales get underway in China. It will be the brand’s first model to also be built for export at the Shenyang plant in China, which is operated by the joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive.
The new drive system unit generates maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) which, unlike with many other electric motors, is sustained at high revs. The new BMW iX3 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds, putting it on equal footing with the conventionally powered BMW X3 xDrive30i. Top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h (112 mph).
Cutting-edge battery cell technology plays a central role in the latest development stage of high-voltage batteries. The storage capacity of the battery, relative to the installation space required and its weight, has been substantially increased. The gravimetric energy density of the 188 prismatic cells in the new BMW iX3 is around 20 per cent higher than the one of the battery cells used by the BMW Group for fully electric vehicles up to now. A gross energy content of 80 kWh – of which 74 kWh is utilised – and the high efficiency of the drive systems allow the new BMW iX3 to offer a range of up to 459 kilometres (285 miles) in the WLTP test cycle and up to 520 kilometres (323 miles) in the NEDC test cycle.
The new technical features making their debuts under the banner of the fifth- generation BMW eDrive technology include an innovative charging unit, sending power to both the 400V battery and the 12V on-board power supply. When using alternating current terminals, it enables both single-phase and three-phase charging at up to 11 kW. Plugging the vehicle into a direct current fast-charging station facilitates charging outputs of up to 150 kW. The high-voltage battery in the new BMW iX3 can therefore be charged from 0 to 80 per cent of its full capacity in 34 minutes. Drivers can inject the power required to add 100 kilometres (62 miles) to the car’s driving range (in the WLTP cycle) in 10 minutes of charging.

The Audi RS models from Audi Sport GmbH are the dynamic spearheads of their respective product lines. They have a strong character that consists of distinct design differentiation, full everyday usability, effortless top performance, and a thrilling driving experience. This results from a relentless focus on minute details by the designers and development and test engineers, and it is perfected over numerous test drives around the world. There is a behind-the-scenes look at development work.
Audi RS models are produced at four locations. The Audi RS3 Sportback, the Audi RS3 Sedan, the Audi RS4 Avant, the Audi RS5 Coupé, and the Audi RS5 Sportback roll off the line in the German plant in Ingolstadt.
The Audi RS6 Avant and the Audi RS7 Sportback are produced at the Neckarsulm site.
At the Hungarian plant in Győr, the Audi TT RS as a Coupé and Roadster, the RS Q3 and the RS Q3 Sportback are built.
The Audi RS Q8 is produced at the Slovakian plant in Bratislava.
All RS models are processed on shared systems with their sister models. The Audi press shops supply the specific sheet metal parts made of steel or, in many cases, aluminum that are then assembled in the body shop.
The marriage, that is the assembly station where the suspension and drivetrain are joined with the body, is very challenging in the case of the models with a V8 engine in particular.
RS-specific parts such as the exhaust system, bumpers, rear aprons, and wheels complete the RS models. A two-digit number of RS6 Avants and RS7 Sportbacks are built in Neckarsulm every working day. Each one of them is checked on a road course before being handed over to the customer.
The “Böllinger Höfe” factory is located close by the Neckarsulm plant, the headquarters of Audi Sport GmbH. This is where the sports and racing cars of the R8 family are built, in large part by hand, and the fully electric Audi e-tron GT will soon be built here, too.

Hyundai transforms H-100 into the Porest campervan.
Hyundao transformed its Hyndai H-100 utility vehicle into a motorhome. It's not just an H-100 with a bed inside it either. It's fully appointed and even includes a kitchen sink and a bathroom sink. While it has the front end of an H-100, that's the only visual link the Porest has with its cargo-hauling counterpart. The rest of it aims to be a hotel room on wheels.
The “living room” of the Porest has features a brown and white theme that wouldn't look out of place in a house or a condominium. Wood accents are present too, adding a more home-like ambiance in the campervan. A pair of sofas are included as well, and those seats are modular as well. Those can even be transformed into forward-facing seats (with seatbelts) for safer travels. The center table on the other hand can be adjusted in three levels.
On to the kitchen and it comes with a refrigerator, a microwave oven, and stacks of drawers and overhead cabinets, along with the aforementioned sink. However, a stovetop isn't fitted to the vehicle, but you can plug in an induction cooker instead. An on-board exhaust fan prevents the camper from getting too smokey inside during cookouts.
Moving to the bathroom and there's a folding sink in there, plus a shower and even a mirror. Curiously, the toilet is optional.
Now, for the sleeping quarters. Hyundai has employed a power bunk bed in the Porest which lowers itself from the ceiling of the motorhome. The sofas can also be folded flat to form a bed. Not only that, there's a special room towards the back of the campervan and the room can also be extended in the top-spec Porest.
Hyundai also fitted a special touchscreen which allows the passengers to control cabin temperature and indoor lighting. A smartphone app also allows the owner to check the vehicle's battery levels and freshwater levels as well.
Other options? Air-conditioning can be fitted to the motorhome, along with heated flooring. For the outside, an awning system may be attached, plus a solar panel to lessen the load on the on-board inverter.
Sadly, it seems that the Porest won't be offered outside of South Korea. Still, it's amusing to see something as utilitarian as the H-100 turned into a luxury motor home, which is reflected in its price. In South Korea, it starts at 41.000 USD for the base model, 54.000 USD for the mid-spec, and 64.000 USD for the variant equipped with all the bells and whistles.

In designing the Huracán EVO, Lamborghini added a host of new features to the most successful sports car model in its history. NOVITEC offers an exclusive refinement range for owners of the mid-engine sports car who want to make their vehicle even sportier and more individual. This includes naked-carbon aerodynamic-enhancement components, which were fine-tuned in the wind tunnel. There also are hi-tech forged wheels in a staggered combination with diameters of 20 and 21 inches on the front and rear axle, which were developed for the new EVO in cooperation with American wheel manufacturer Vossen. NOVITEC sport springs give the car even more dynamic handling. NOVITEC RACE high-performance exhaust systems can further optimize the engine performance and give the two-seater an even sportier exhaust note. Exclusive interior refinement is part of the broad range of options available from NOVITEC for the Lamborghini Huracán EVO as well. The NOVITEC designers developed an aerodynamic-enhancement kit that combines spectacular looks and aerodynamic efficiency in an optimal way and accomplishes their goal of adding even more visual thrills to the wedge-shaped design of the sports car from Sant’Agata Bolognese. This also included wind tunnel testing in order to produce even more downforce and optimize the handling stability as a result. The precise-fit NOVITEC components are manufactured with a naked-carbon finish to give the Huracán EVO full-blooded racing looks. However, the bodywork components can of course also be painted in vehicle or contrasting color. NOVITEC offers three options for making the face of the two-seater even more distinctive. They can be installed separately or as a complete set: The central front blade and the two-piece spoiler extensions at the left and right enhance the appearance of the EVO and what is more, they optimize the aerodynamics as well. Tailor-made end plates at the left and right of the front fascia direct the air even more effectively to the side air intakes.
