Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 4 - Part 14 Preparing for the Rivalries
Now that the group is back together, we are free to explore Eryn where we get the impression we will not be returning for some time. Luckily, Gaius offers us the use of his airship as a mobile base of operations so we can try to bring some sense to Osbourne's mess. As the first step to discovering the depths of his machinations, we need to go after the wayward member of the group, who may not be as cooperative as some may have hoped... ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8YAbD20bKo
Trying the Crossed Paths for the first time, we get to go to an area I explored earlier in the game. It is a fairly short and simple area where we get to see some interactions between Castti and Ochette. Basically, we take a walk in the woods and find the balance has been lost and do what we can to restore it.

The final missions in the game are all exterminations. Sadly, they go down so fast, I just don't see the point in trying to separate these into different videos as even all combined they don't break the 20 minute mark without including the final report. In the fights up until now, we've demonstrated more than enough firepower to make very short work of these, so if you were able to win the fights you weren't supposed to, this should be a piece of cake for you.

We have bugs that heal while dropping gold on death, compounded with a special Detonator to boost our gold yield even higher. This is easily the biggest grab I've done to date, and we even refrain from freezing the thing and stopping the gold detonation. Most of the video is me trying to mine the gold while Phoenix does the mission. Sadly, Crimson did not respond to show up for the payday, so we had to go without him.

I think this one was created just to troll people, but it is by far the most dangerous of the bunch. Preta can one-shot people from full HP if it crits, and if you are susceptible to poison, Black Slime will instantly kill you if you don't immediately heal. The spellcasters are a little easier to handle with the proper protections (fire), and Surt comes in handy for handling them.
The hard part is that you can't use blanket spells as they all negate something. Pixie can throw out large heals, so I recommend picking her off first to bring some of their damage into line. Defense is incredibly important here since each of them get two turns, which can become four if they crit or hit weaknesses. I've given up largely on trying to focus their accuracy as the buff and debuff seem overnerfed, but lowering their attack power can help quite a bit. The name of the game is holding your ground as you whittle away at them, and each one you drop brings you that much closer to victory.

There is a hidden quest here, but since it is just the one (I don't count Hide and Seek), I am not planning to cut it out from the video and upload it separately (unless requested soon). Other than that, we spend time in the amusement park and get to go on rides with people to generate affection. Then when we are out of tickets, the scenario comes to an end and we get ready for dinner, which plays out a little different than expected.
As for the two quests in the video, to summarize. We have to exterminate monsters at the beach and you only get one character with you. There are 6 enemies to scan, so I grabbed Noel for this one.
The other is playing Hide and Seek in the amusement park, which is fairly simple as the cat will hide on each screen once. When you know that, it becomes easier to track them down as process of elimination takes effect.

This is just an extra video since the ending of the game has already been posted. Basically, I return to the Labyrinth of Amala to show all of the things you can't do on the first trip to the Fifth Kalpa. Along the way, I show a few grave battles, we pick up Black Frost and Dante, then we reach the part that will probably interest people. There is a vault in the 5th Kalpa that can only be accessed by a True Demon. Basically, you have to return to this area after clearing the Kalpa, and sadly, the reward is basically crap. From there, we can open the doors restricted to Black Frost (more crap), Beelzebub (more crap), and then Metatron, which holds the Girimehkala with Pierce and the final grave site, which are the reason bosses. You get to see me make short work of Noah (and Ahriman somewhat), then fail to beat Baal Avatar faster than I did in the actual game. She does summon her minions this time, so you can see what they do though. Anyway, all of this stuff is optional, so it's up to you if you want to bother. You really don't need a Pierce demon to beat Lucifer as the Demi-Fiend alone should be more than enough. I just did it so you'd know how to do it yourself.
Since recording this, we did get a brief teaser for the next game though. I have to say that I am interested in MegaTen 5 since it seems to be more of a return to this style, but we'll see. This game is considered to be one of the easier games, but part of that is about abusing what you've been accumulating over the game, and it will sucker punch you from time to time (Matador for instance), so I am curious what the next one will be like.
This is a pure story segment where we are starting to reach a single event told from numerous different perspectives. Tita wants to build a new mech and does a lot of research and talking. The gameplay stuff will be coming in the other half of the Orbal Gear segment.

Welcome to the most annoying mission of the entire DLC. Part of this is due to the way fog works, not allowing you to see nearby buildings to satisfy one of the challenges. You must still be a little bold in order to secure the final building before destroying enough of the enemy.
In order to pass this mission with all challenges, I whip out an extremely old Advance Wars strategy: the crawling zombie. Essentially, we spam the map with Lancers, using them to capture buildings out of necessity while still packing a decent punch. Since they are so immobile though, we crank out loads of waves of them so it is an unending onslaught that the enemy simply cannot contend with. This strikes way too close to home as the "Zap Branigan strategy" which is why I don't like to use it often, but you can definitely see its effectiveness here.
