For today's video I go through one of my upper body strength workouts, this day is more of a filler and isolation day for me. I talk about how I had more of a max compound lift day earlier in the week, so this workout was kind of a compliment to what I had already done in the week. All of my training is for basketball performance, to be able to perform better on the court. This is part of the process to build strength that will transfer to the court, and become more skilled and a better all around athlete.

In this video I talk about how to increase your vertical jump. I give you some of my favorite exercises that is going to help you jump higher. Their are a lot of different exercises you need to incorporate in your vertical jump training, but today's focus is explosive exercises. All of these are great exercises for basketball, and if done consistently over time it will increase your vertical jump fast.
Power Squats
Power Cleans (I give a modified alternative)
Dumbbell Thrusters
Band Squats
Kettlebell Swings
I explain the correct form of each of these, and tell you the amount of reps I recommend. I would say to do an explosive workout like this about once a week, and you will be jumping higher in no time.

For today's video I talk about basketball recovery for game day or tryout. It is very important to have a proper rest day the day before your first game or tryout. I explain that their is a specific way to structure a day like this, and how it is a bad idea to completely relax the whole day.
If you can set yourself apart from your opponent (even if it is slightly) then it is best to take full advantage of it! Have a well thought out day, and maximize your potential for your game!

It is important to understand how often to be training all of these for each week. We don't want it to be too less of volume, but at the same time we don't want to be overtraining. So knowing the proper dose in which to train is going to help your body to adapt most effectively.

For this video I show you guys my routine for a dynamic basketball warm up. This is something I think gets overlooked because it's not the most exciting thing to do, but it is very important and can have a big effect on your basketball performance. Take 20-30 minutes before your game to do these exercises and stretches, they will get you lose and get you prepared for your game. This is how a lot of the pros do their pregame warm up for basketball.
Using bands will help your hip mobility which is used very often in basketball, and doing A and B skips will be great for preparing for sprinting. These exercises will lead into your shoot around routine. Doing simple dribbling drills, and simple shooting drills is all you need to do with shoot around. Just make sure you get a lot of shots up to get the feel of the ball and feel of the goals.

In this video I talk about how to measure vertical jump without equipment, and talk about some of the best ways to measure your vertical jump as well, to give you an idea of what will help it be the most accurate.
In order to increase your vertical jump, you need a starting point. I always like to start with testing your vertical jump. The best and most accurate way to measure your vertical is by using a vertec. I explain in the video how this isn't going to be for everybody, because it is a big investment and it also takes up quite a bit of space. So I talk in depth about some other options, like using apps to measure your vertical jump. VertVision and Jumpster are the apps that I tried, and tested out numerous times to see if it would be a good recommendation for you guys. My thoughts on these apps is they just did not work for me, I thought the accuracy wasn't there at all so would not recommend.
I also show you how you can measure your vertical without using any special equipment, it can be just from things most of us have lying around the house.
