I know I don't even have the talent that Gilmour has in his pinky finger, but I figured I would try to play the song anyway since it was only the street. I ignored the laughter and kept going. I'm not even copying the song or playing like Gilmour, so what is the point of this? Thankfully, no one tipped me, because I don't deserve a dime for this abysmal attempt. So sorry for wasting everyone's time. I should burn my guitar as penance. Forgive me, David! You are at level 99, and I'm still at 1. I don't know what it's like to play with emotion.

A couple updates: Bandcamp Friday rolls around this August 6 from Midnight to midnight pacific time. This is the first one in two months. It used to be every month, but has become more infrequent since June. I have no idea if this is the last one or not but they are definitely cutting it back. If you purchase my music on Friday, I get 100% of the sale instead of the usual 90%, so it's a good time to stock up on the jams!

This guitarist, Fil, analyzes guitar styles of many players and asked me if I wanted to be on the 'Guitar spotlight' feature. I jammed for one minute over a track he sent me. I am the fourth guitarist to do this jam on his channel. The first one was Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult, one of my favorite players, so it was an honor to be featured in this segment. I played the jam without hearing it, without rehearsing, completely improvised. Only problem, it was too short! Fil understands the rarity of this kind of playing, which is all I do on my own channel, so it was great to hear him break it down and explain the thought process improvisation involves. It was a strange feeling to see my solo broken down into segments and analyzed.

Acoustic funk blues mash up of Robin Trower and shaky ground. Somebody calling was originally released in 1978 and featured the incomparable James Dewar on vocals. I think people don't realize how hard it is to do a duo. I'm playing bass, lead and rhythm parts all at once. No bass, no processed or auto tuned vocals or distorted guitar effects. Everything here is clean, honest, and you can stand next to us and not go deaf. Quite refreshing after playing in tons of bands with loud drummers where you can't hear yourself anymore and your reward is tinitis.

i-get-interviewed-on-local-radio-station
I got an email from CKNW radio asking for an interview. Some local guy named Rob from Kerrisdale asked them to do an interview on me, so thanks to him.for that. It was prerecorded at noon today, then Eric (interviewer) edited it and put it up as a podcast. We talked a lot and I was able to mention most of the important points. Some things didn’t get in, like how I was hearing from so many people, including nurses, who were using my music for therapy, healing and dementia treatment. Overall, I’m happy with how it came out. Very nice compliments! No idea how many people will hear this but it’s great to get some advertising. It's my first interview.

Busking and youtube facts:
1) Street playing is not all fun and games and dancing kids. Doing this for 7 years. I regularly face not only verbal abuse, but physical assault as I work a few blocks from downtown eastside Vancouver. I'm surrounded by addicts, drunks, and people who should be in mental homes.
2) I'm unemployed. All live music including busking, is banned. I lost all work last year and received ZERO compensation. I had a very bad year in 2020 and had a serious brain aneyruism in April 2021. Still recovering from that.
3) I make ZERO from youtube no matter how many views I get. I was demonetized by Google years ago as part of their culling of small accounts. I don't run ads. And more importantly, even if I did, most of my videos are instantly copyrighted and auto monetized by record labels because they are COVERS. If you see an ad, it's the record label collecting.
