"Former Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday defended his comments which surfaced earlier this week in which he said when Republicans "go low," Democrats should "kick them," calling on critics to "stop the fake outrage."
"OK, stop the fake outrage," Holder, who served in the Obama administration, tweeted. "I’m obviously not advocating violence. (In fact, when I was AG violent crime in the US was historically low.)"

Sam Seder: Let's start with climate investments $555 billion as of today. Anyways and about a fifth of that is to dealing with climate change as opposed to trying to mitigate it or prevent it to the extent that we can um where does that where does that come in in terms of expectations like what are what are uh well climate hawks saying about this?
David Dayen: The Biden framework called for I think $600 billion in the resiliency slash climate, clean energy space, so they didn't really come down very much and that's that's with you know a guy who whose campaign ad took a rifle and shot a cap and trade bill uh as as the fulcrum point so i think i think climate hawks are pretty pretty pleased from a relative standpoint with this with this uh legislation it does include a couple things like it does not repeal fossil fuel tax credits uh i think that maybe is the biggest sticking point uh what tax credits it gives to things like uh carbon capture nuclear pretty minimal this actually is a very large investment in incentives for clean energy there are no penalties very few penalties for not moving forward on clean energy in the bill which was this main centerpiece right the clean energy performance program which would have said to utilities uh we'll give you money if you start you know greening your uh set of electricity and we will penalize you if you don't that was the the the centerpiece of the bill that came out but all of that money or virtually all that money was moved towards uh incentives tax credits for construction of clean energy manufacturing uh insourcing supply chains on things like solar and wind and steel and aluminum and things like that electric vehicle rebates energy efficiency rebates it's about five times the amount of what was in the stimulus package uh in 2009 which did yield a boom in certain clean energy investment things

Sam Seder: The idea that you could say this is a function of The Squad... To raise that like Anderson Cooper does is the most ludicrous thing. Terry McAuliffe is the furthest thing away... There's no way that someone looks at Terry McAuliffe and goes, "I don't want to vote for AOC." That doesn't happen. That's not there, and if that is, then you are done anyways because if it's not AOC, it's San Francisco Nancy Pelosi. And if it's not San Francisco Nancy Pelosi, then it's, whatever you want to say, it's Crazy Krysten Sinema.
Emma Vigeland: How can you make the argument too that Youngkin is able to distance himself from Trump, and then on the flip side that McAuliffe is unable to distance himself from the crazy AOC/Bernie–wing? Jimmy Dore is mad at Noam Chomsky because Prof. Chomsky is in favor of vaccine mandates — even going so far as suggesting that unvaccinated people should separate themselves from vaccinated people as a common courtesy. More importantly than the stance that @The Jimmy Dore Show is taking, though, is that Jimmy doesn't know what he's talking about. He shows a headline about Covid 19 vaccine hesitancy in Sub-Saharan Africa, then plays a clip of Chomsky stating that the global south of the Earth VERY MUCH wants the Covid 19 vaccine. He then laughs at Chomsky with this article on his screen, stating that it proves him wrong. It doesn't prove him wrong at all, and Jimmy Dore's antics are truly only getting dumber.

Sam Seder: This is such an example of total stupidity. That headline does not refute Noam Chomsky saying there is overwhelming desire and demand for vaccines in the global south. Incidentally the global south is bigger than Sub-Saharan Africa. The fact that there is overwhelming demand for vaccines in the global south or even in Sub-Saharan Africa does not negate the existence of vaccine hesitancy. What's driving vaccine hesitancy does not say that vaccine hesitancy is the reason why people are unvaccinated, largely. This is just despicable. This is just like reading comprehension literally for third graders, okay. Third-grade level.

Alex thanks for coming on. Thank you very much, Emma. happy to be here. Well happy to have you. so East Palestine dominated the news this week. You know I've been fascinated to see how the Republicans have seized on this opportunity to make some sort of political stand. I think they notice that you know Biden was in Ukraine. They figured that they could use this as an opportunity to connect some of the languages you've seen on you know why is all this money going to Ukraine when it could be going to X Y and Z. Or attack by the non-infrastructure not being sufficient despite the inflation reduction act. I'm not exactly sure where they're going with it. Because if you dig a tiny bit deeper you see that you know Trump was a part of the deregulatory process that leads to these kinds of things. What's been your take on this past week of this kind of Crescendo of Fox and other right-wing coverage of East Palestine. Well I mean it's purely opportunistic. I think of you correctly. I think it's seen as a convenient cudgel against Biden right? And I think they're being treated mainly just as a way to, you know, make this Administration look bad and to sort of hammer against the usual right-wing bugbear of like we're spending too much money on foreign aid or in this case Ukraine. We're spending too much money on them and we're not doing enough for us. The sort of really obvious Counterpoint to that is as you say the deregulatory push. I mean in addition to it happening under Trump it is just a long-time Republican agenda item, right? I mean in their ideal policy world we would be having an East Palestine every month or so. But you know the reality doesn't quite so much matter but I I think what's interesting in a sort of depressing and unfortunate way. Is that they're roping it into this sort of culture War thing and it's becoming you know I guess to paraphrase Kanye it's becoming a Joe Biden doesn't care about white people thing.
