People who aren't centered in God tend to either act larger than life or overly meek--like victims. But when we come from our authentic, courageous center, where we are yoked to God, we instead tend to be humble and clear about who we are and how we interact with others--with little or no sense of being falsely large nor small. Martin Luther King, Gandhi, and Jesus humbly followed their guidance and did their God-given work, even though it resulted in death. Their work is still benefiting people to this day. Mother Theresa is an example of someone who chose to connect with God and humbly brought love and compassion to the sick. It is time for us to recognize the difference between our true center versus the polarity of being falsely large or small as found in ourselves or others. Don’t be pushed by the falsely large OR pulled by the falsely small people in the world. Just because someone is loud (falsely large) doesn't mean we need to be intimidated by them. Similarly, just because someone acts like a victim (falsely small), it doesn't mean we need to always buy their story--as all too often, these two images projected by others are smokescreens for their issues and agendas. Our job, instead, is to maintain our center and see how we might assist others to shift out of their false image. Sometimes this may even take the form of us not enabling their behavior. But by maintaining our center, we are offering a new way for them...but it's up to them to accept the gift.
