Arcane is an incredibly well-written show. However, sometimes things get left on the cutting room floor that makes you go hmm. Maybe it is because of lack of time or some other reason. I look at odd blanks and odd behavior that is never explained. After all, when there is really good writing some things can sometimes stick out at you.
Yes, we know that there is lore and a clearly obvious place in the game of LoL, but for the TV show, things are different. The characters are different some of the history of the city is different. So, the real question is according to the TV show itself what is Zaun and where did the name come from? I look at these questions and more in the video.
While we have heard that Jinx is perfect, I think that from a variety of perspectives Ekko is close to perfect. He may even be the next perfect leader of Zaun. So, let`s take a look.
A trailer's job is to get the casual viewer interested in watching the show or get the fan really excited. A trailer needs to do certain things to accomplish this. I take a look at why the Lord of Rings: Rings of Power trailer fails and why the teaser and trailer for Arcane does a much better job.
Mel starts off as a manipulative Machiealviean character and turns into someone with a complex past and more complex relations. Just what is it that Mel wants? Power? Status? Or something else?
Vander has a good heart. The show has set him up as a very good person. Unfortunately, he doesn't learn the right lesson completely which leaves him and his family vulnerable to Silco`s devious plan. What is the thing that Vander did not get, but Ekko does? I will cover this in the video.
There is one scene in Arcane that turns a very common storytelling trope on its head. That scene is also bookended with similar scenes on either side. It made me wonder who really are the antagonists and protagonists from the story's point of view.
In some shows, characters can die for contrived reasons. Sometimes there is a need for more development to make the scenes work. However, in Arcane in most cases, I point out how the time was used appropriately. Even in the case of Skye.
There are a lot of great lines in Arcane. But there is one line that does a good job of making a good point in general and encapsulating the direction of two major characters.
