On January 8th, it emerged that Star Trek 4 had been “shelved” … which is another way of saying that the fourth Star Trek movie is cancelled, and no longer is being pursued. For all intents and purposes, this implies that the Kelvin timeline is over. However, since these news broke, there has been some level of fingerpointing on who are what is to blame for this state of affairs. Many outlets have pointed at the lead cast for reportedly demanding bigger paydays, and some even implied Disney’s Star Wars has made Star Trek redundant. None of this is accurate.
