The output goes high when the noninverting input is higher than the inverting input. The output goes low when the noninverting pin is a lower voltage than the inverting pin. So far I have only found the LM393 to work when sinking current from the positive side of the power supply across the load. The inputs pass virtually no current from the voltage applied. In this video I measure the LM393N input voltages while making adjustments and I show how ever much current does flow through the inputs, it is not enough for my multimeter to measure. So it can just be concidered as being no current.
