Stories From Around The World That May Prove Cryptids May Actually Exist. Modern-Day Dinosaurs? Dinosaurs ruled the Earth for millions of years before an asteroid led to their extinction 65 million years ago, but could some of them have survived? Though it never happened, movies & TV shows love to show humans and dinosaurs together, and sometimes scenes from those movies get passed off as current-day monster sightings like this one from a movie called “Poseidon Rex.” But in modern-day Africa, there are stories of a dinosaur cryptid living in the Kasai Valley. In 1932 a Swedish hunter was tracking a pack of Elephants when he saw something else in the brush stalking the elephants also. The creature jumped at the herd, and the hunter trained his gun on what looked like a smaller red Tyrannosaurus Rex. He fired 3 times & the creature ran away. As the hunter walked back to camp, he came across the animal again this time feeding on a rhino. He pulled out his camera and this is said to be the picture taken by the hunter. Though there have been other people who have gone in search of the creature there have been no other confirmed sightings since, , though the stories still persist. 4) Loch Ness Monster Found Dead Did you know that a Saint was the first one to bring the story of the Loch Ness Monster to the world in 565 A.D. While walking along the River Ness an Irish monk came across some villagers burying a friend. He was told the man was swimming and attacked by a water beast. The story was written in “The Life Of Saint Columba” about 100 years after his death. During the time of the dinosaurs, there were even bigger creatures living underwater. Nessie is thought to be one of those Plesiosaurs that somehow survived extinction. Local stories of the creature have been around even before that Saint Columba. Plesiosaur bones were found in Scotland in 1844 but they weren’t recent, and the most famous grainy picture of the monster in 1934 is thought to be an escaped circus elephant swimming with its trunk above water, but what about all the other sightings? Over the years boats have used technology to map the bottom of the loch and sonar has been used to look for any large animals moving in the water. Scientists have even taken water from Ness and the other “monster-free” lochs nearby. With today’s technology, they’ve been able to identify all the plants and animals that call the lochs home. They found nothing close to the DNA you would expect to see from a Plesiosaur though. The one unique thing they did find in Loch Ness, that wasn’t in the “monster free” lochs was A LOT of eel DNA, ,in every part of the Loch! Not as well known outside of Asia. The weretiger is a mythical hybrid between a tiger and a human that prowls Asian jungles looking for prey during the full moon as well… Tigers, definitely one of the most majestic animals in the Asian animal kingdom! The Flying Frog We all know frogs swim and hop around. Their webbed feet were once thought to be for swimming, that would be a normal assumption, but the Wallace’s flying frog had adapted to the predators and its own prey and therefore learned to glide from tree to tree in the jungles or Borneo and Malaysia. They can glide a distance of about a bowling lane!! Adaptation achieved with this one! The Blood Thirsty Leech We all have the idea that the vampire bats are the ones to be weary of when thinking about blood thirsty animals. But you should be more worry about the blood sucking invertebrates that slither in the forest. In the Americas, leeches are small and can easily be pulled away. But in Asia, of course leeches are ever so clever and even more hungry. A leech in Asia would fall of a tree and drink your blood until literally you dry out! Vampires don’t do that!! They just drink a little bit and go. But witch one looks more scary? Blind As A… Dolphin? Most of us who have gone to the aquarium or had the pleasure of seeing a dolphin in the wild know that they have eyes and can see. But not all dolphins are born with eyesight. In the Indus and Ganges rivers of South Asia a specie of dolphin is born blind and in order to navigate and hunt for food. They use echolocation!! Another cool characteristic is that they swim on only one side of their body so their flippers are touching the muddy bottom to steer the prey out of hiding. What a clever adaptation to the murky waters. Hog So Cute When thinking of a regular pig, you may not think of the tusks some species have. Most of them grind the exposed teeth but not the Babirusa from the island of Indonesia. This “Deer Pig” would be a dentist dream!! Since they don’t grind those tusks (this is only achieved with regular friction, there have been accounts of the babirusa teeth being so long as to pierce their own skull.
