Shoulder care part 2. Swimmer's shoulder
The most important thing to do before swimming is to get your blood flowing faster to your muscles, specially your shoulders. Doing different types of arm circles will help you do just that. Count 10 to 15 reps with each arm on each exercise. Do some front circles, back circles, side to side and alternating.
It is also really important to warm up other parts of the body, as I explained on the core video. These muscles transfer energy to other parts of the body, so by warming up your core you are also preparing your shoulders for a good swim.
After you finish your work-out and you have done the exercises shown in part 1 of shoulder care, it is really important to stretch.
The membrane of the muscles should be regularly stretched. This will give your muscles more room to grow and will give you more mobility to do a better technique in the water. We will focus a lot in the shoulders on this video, but stay tuned for a whole body stretch video. Hold these stretching positions for 30 seconds and slowly release the tension. You should be feeling some pressure but not pain, or else you could injure your muscle. Don’t do a bouncing stretch which can also cause damage. Remember that your flexibility is improved mainly by the repetition of these movements, not necessarily the intensity. I recommend doing these exercises after every workout. Be sure to schedule those extra five or ten minutes after the work out and make it a routine.

These tips and techniques will work best to help you improve dramatically your stroke if you do two things:
1- Focus on one thing at a time
2- Practice until you dominate that thing and move to the next.
I will also do another series of videos for the other strokes, including starts and turns. There will also be drills and other fun stuff, so make sure to subscribe!
I swam for 15 years in the competitive arena and I hope I can transmit my knowledge as clearly and simple as youtube allows me to. I plan on doing a couple of these to spread the knowledge I have acquired on swimming. I will do collab
