Russia is set to kit out its military with 10 times more drones in 2024 than in the previous year, President Putin has said. During a meeting with Russia’s Military-Industrial Commission about unmanned aircraft development, Putin noted that in 2023, the Russian Armed Forces received nearly 140,000 drones of various types, adding that the production rate has since increased significantly.
‘This year, the production of drones is planned to increase several times, or to be more precise, almost ten times,’ said the president.
As well as an increase in production, the range of unmanned equipment is set to expand, with boats as well as aircraft being developed.
‘The key task is to produce a wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles and to set up serial production of such promising technology as quickly as possible,’ explained Putin.
