Warhammer 40k DOW 2 Chaos Rising - Mission 8 Primarch - Keys to the Past
Chaos Rising is set one year after the events of Dawn of War II and the defeat of the Tyranid invasion (as well as the Eldar and Ork forces) of sub-sector Aurelia. The campaign marks the return of the Blood Raven heroes from the previous game, the Chaos Lord Eliphas from Dark Crusade, Derosa as the new governor of Meridian, and the heretical Vandis.
New to Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising is the Corruption System. In the campaign there are often multiple objectives which will complete a mission; depending on which one a player chooses to complete, they will become more or less corrupted. Corruption describes how close the player's Marines (i.e. the Force Commander, Jonah and the rest of the Squads under the player's command except for Davian Thule, who is the only member unaffected by corruption) are to turning to Chaos and betraying the Imperium of man. This is a conscious choice in the gameplay and will affect the ending of the game as well as what missions are available throughout the campaign for the player.
Two new environments are available in Chaos Rising to complement the three already available (the jungle/swamp terrain of Typhon, the deserts and canyons of Calderis, and the towering Gothic city-scape of Meridian). Plot ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-An5P488o
The game has a campaign or two for every nation. The Anglo-Saxon campaign has the likes of Edward the Confessor, William the Conqueror and Earl of Huntingdon. For the Vikings campaign the game is set in 793 and is divided in two parts. The first part is set during the raid of Lindisfarne's monastery which was the fundamental beginning of Viking Age and serves as a tutorial. Once the tutorial is completed the other campaigns become available. The second part is set in 892 and is dedicated to Rurik, a Varangian chieftain during the Ladoga campaign. The Slavs and Teutons have a campaign each. During the campaigns, the AI is a better player as it is able to replace losses and send large armies to your base.
This was played on the hardest difficulty and in my opinion it was a pretty atmospheric and immersive game, loved it! The combat is pretty unique reminding me of company of heroes as well as the UI and overall gameplay, which in my opinion doesn't really fit in a medieval setting but i nevertheless enjoyed it!

CIRCLE MAGE DIFFICULTY
The storytelling will take place around 500 years before the Convocation and hence the world is not yet shattered into islands but remains a whole continent. The game is set in Nortander where the player has to gather influence among the human houses. A new plague is running wild within the realm but while most inhabitants seek for salvation within religion, it is up to the avatar to solve this crisis. But there might be more to it than meets the eye.
Real-Time Strategy
Base building was announced to be bound to sector-based advancing instead of the mechanics from previous Spellforce titles. This also includes resource management, e.g. you sometimes need to mine ore in one sector and transport it to other sectors to refine it into iron bars which can then be used for other things. There are three playable fractions (orcs, humans and elves). All factions' units have a typical stone-paper-scissor mechanic, e.g. bowmen are good versus infantry but weak versus cavalry.
Role-Play game
The avatar can be chosen from different presets e.g. bulky, skinny, facial features and hair styles in either female or male gender. There are many characters from previous game that can be found in SpellForce 3 such as future mages of the circle as companions. Together you can travel among the Nortander realms and explore old shaper ruins and magicial places.
There are lots of different skills and abilities as well powerful artefacts to perfectly individualize your personal character and skill combinations. In the game there are many tasks and quests to be done with promising rewards and with lots of more background information about the Bloodburn, the Wolf Guard and the Shaper empire and so many more.
Additional infos
While the previous games had a more easygoing attempt into telling their stories SpellForce 3 attempts to be more adult in terms of storytelling and background info.
The game has a multiplayer mode where players can cooperate into player versus A.I. or other players.
