What Woke Really Means and What Wokeness Really Is
DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and so much of Pop Culture are going woke, but what does that even mean? What do Conservatives mean when they comment that something or someone is woke or has gone woke? Well I'd like to put forward one definition that I think covers it:
Woke: Under the sway of social progressivism especially in regard to human sexuality, and race relations.
Examples:
1. Women appropriating traditionally masculine roles and attributes, not as a radical and rare exceptions to the rule, but as the standard of a new norm.
2. The introduction of racial minority characters (either through character replacement or otherwise) when utterly unwarranted by the logic of the story, the racial make-up of their city, civilization, culture or period in history.
3. The introduction of a character with an atypical sexuality.
4. Changing an established character’s sexuality to an atypical one.
5. An overt or covert promotion of a progressive belief, stand, political position, etc in what is meant to be escapist entertainment.
6. The denigration of traditional values, patriotism, and entire racial majorities.
DC Comics, the DCEU, the CW, and Warner Brothers have been getting Superman wrong since the 1980's. It was only for a short time in 90's that he was finally done (mostly) right in Superman the Animated Series, and only sometimes, but why? In order to get the Man of Tomorrow, and the Man of Steel right, you first have to get the man himself right.
DC Comics is quietly putting away Jon Kent Superman and trying to make Superman comics fun again. Is DC Comics about to take us back to the Silver Age?
If you want to stop wokeness, and you aren't content to simply be "not woke" then you might want to try being Anti-Woke, but it isn't for the faint of heart.
Warner Brothers is in a state of crisis. The company has changed hands, and merged divisions. The CW has been sold. Stargirl and Batgirl cancelled, and DC Comics series like Bruce Timm's Batman the Animated Series revival has been sent looking for a new home like a hermit crab. How did it ever get so bad?
Anime isn't woke, and won't go woke anytime soon, but shows like Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and others, show it doesn't need to go woke because it already has problems enough of its own.
