Intel’s Arc Alchemist GPUs are here… for laptops at least. In today’s video, we’ll discuss 3 features that stood out to me with intel’s new architecture. Whether it's the media engine that packs one feature that we’ve been waiting for ( AV1 Encoding ), a new way to make your experience better when gaming ( Smooth Sync ) or intel’s new Arc control. The software equivalent of Geforce Experience or AMD’s Adrenalin software. Honestly, intel’s feature set is extremely strong for their first jump into high-end discrete graphics!
Plus, we got a sneak peek of the design for their desktop graphics card.

I have way too many mechanical keyboards. I even have some membrane ones like this REDragon or Cynosa that I reviewed a while back. So why did I accept to review 2 new ones sent over by Dareu ? Well, because one of those keyboards looks stunning, and the other might be the best one for my needs!. So let's take a look at This one first, on your boot sequence. ( Throw box ) Don't worry it was empty.
So Dareu? You might know the brand, or you might not. Personally, it's not my first time using their products. In fact, my main mouse for the last 9 months has been their EM901. You can tell I use it because.. Well, you just have to look at it. Anyways, a couple of weeks ago, they sent me their A81 and A98 mechanical keyboards for testing and I gotta say, these are pretty impressive offerings, especially for the price. Let’s start with the A81, I'll get to the A98 another day. .
Now the A81 is definitely a statement piece. It comes in white with orange and grey accents, or in this beautiful smoked transparent color. It's a 75% keyboard, and it doesn't want you to forget about it. The spacebar has a cool graphic reminding you that, and the back has this sort of huge decal that says it again. The transparency on the case itself is kind of frosted, while the keycaps are fully transparent with a dark tint on them. Speaking of keycaps, these use an SA or KAT profile meaning the keycaps are more rounded and bubbly, not sure if it's one of the other though. I had never used one of these before, and its crazy how much it centers your finger on the keys. Plus, it gives you nice retro vibe.

Let’s get started with AMD. So.. Boost problems, we all heard of them when it comes to Ryzen 3000. But does everyone have them? No. The latest Bios Patches have been quite good at bringing lacking CPU’s back to advertised speeds, but there are still those who seem to not hit them.
Well, Techpowerup’s got you covered with their new Windows power plan. So when you pop in your 3rd gen Ryzen CPU, you have to install AMD’s chipset drivers which changes your power plan to a modified version that AMD created. Well, 1Usmus over at Techpowerup, who also created things like the Ryzen Dram calculator, Jus released a custom power plan for windows that should get you to and beyond advertised speeds. The advantage with this one is you don’t have to update your version of windows for it to work.
On the post, 1Usmus says that his power plan helps you reach the advertised clocks, plus a bonus of around 50Mhz, all that while dropping the temperature a little bit and by focusing on the 2 best cores. You can see on this graph
If you want to try it out, I’ll link to the instruction and download page in the description but keep in mind that if you’re getting your boosts already there’s no need to mess around!

Digital trends received a slide that is apparently our first look at the generation of Intel Xe GPU’s codenamed “Arctic sound”. Let’s take a look at it. So this is the slide, as you can see, it is split into “Reference Validation Platform” and “Software Development Vehicles”. Just so you know, the DG1 is a Software Development Vehicle which means this category will likely be out of our reach. Moving on to the number of cards column, those are the amounts of variants expected for arctic sound. And now for the juicy bits, the tiles. The tiles should be what intel calls a single Chiplets for GPU’s. In both cases, SVD or RVD, we go from one, to 2 to 4 tiles. The 1 tile would be similar to the DG1 except with its 128 EU’s, remember, the DG1 only has 96 out of 128 active. That means the 2 tile version would have 256 EU, and the 4 tiles 512. With each EU’s containing 8 “cores” that would be anywhere from 1024 “cores” for 1 tile to 4096 for 4 tiles. Insane.
What’s also insane is the power consumption for 4 tiles. It would apparently draw up to 500W. The 2 tile version would draw 300w and single tile, 75 to 150 probably 75w for 96 EU’s and 150w for 128. .the curious thing is that this 4 tile GPU would need an input voltage of 48 Volts to execute this. At least intel knows its a problem since they noted that it would be Not supported. As for the thermal which is also marked in red for SDV, it’s probably just because it wasn’t designed yet.
The rest of the chart is a bit of a mystery since the language used doesn’t really ring any bell, except for sawtooth pass which is a family of intel server motherboards. The rest would require some inside knowledge. So it looks like Intel is going hard on all fronts, but with power draw like that, the performance better be absolutely insane.

Let’s get started with AMD, in recent days, we’ve learned that the PS5’s Custom Navi chip would include hardware acceleration for real time ray tracing. Now we kind of expected that , but it was nice to have the actual confirmation from Playstation’s lead system architect.
But real time ray tracing isn’t only a hardware solution as we’ve seen with Nvidia when they enabled it on non RTX cards. Now I know , the performance was terrible, but it gave us an idea on how taxing software based DirectX ray tracing is. Back to the actual news, it seems like AMD might be introducing a software solution in december. The Radeon adrenalin edition driver from all the way back in july actually show DXR code within references to ray tracing.
At the end of the year, AMD usually comes out with a huge driver update with new features, and this year is no different. AMD’s China partner summit just happened and new features are coming in december. It could be ray tracing, but it could be something else, like Radeon image sharpening for DX11 games or for vega graphics, or even integer scaling since AMD is the only manufacturer to not support it at all right now. Now Don't get me wrong, If they do enable it, the performance will likely be absolute trash , but if nvidia enabled it, why can't AMD.

Let’s get started with AMD, the company finally wrapped up their RX 6000 series of GPU’s, or at least I hope they did, with their new 50 XT series. This means, no more refreshes, and we can leave RDNA 2 behind. In the last couple of weeks, many Leaks and rumors have popped up on their next generation of GPUs based on the RDNA 3 architecture AKA the RX 7000 series.
It’s interesting, but still, Just specs. What are AMD’s performance targets? What performance uplift are they looking for with RDNA3. Well, At the top end, both Nvidia and AMD have similar targets.
On the green team, 2 times the performance of an RTX 3090 is the goal. What about AMD? Well, according to kopite over on twitter, we’re looking at 2X the performance in 4K gaming, and over 3.5X the performance in ray tracing. Now, why is it specifying 4K gaming? well, according to the recent HUB video with 50 games, the 6900 XT, on average, struggles at 4K against even an RTX 3080. So this might be an area of focus for them. As for the 3.5X on ray tracing. That’s going to be really impressive if they can achieve this. Right now with their 6900 XT, they’re not far behind even beating a 3090 in some cases. So tripling that performance is an insane performance boost.

Let’s get started with Nvidia. It looks like unfortunately, the next generation of gpu’s will have the same issues we had with the RTX 2000 series. The price.
While most of the previous info regarding a price hike was related to a new incoming crypto-mining boom, this new information is a little more concrete. Nvidia told their ASIC partners that GPU chip supplies from August to October will only be 70% of the capacity of the last quarter. As is, we are expecting Ampere GPU’s to hit in September or at least be announced by the end of that month. This means that with lower stock, we’ll likely get higher prices. Best case scenario those price hikes are at the retailer level which means it would settle once stock replenishes however long it takes, worst case scenario... Well, the lower supply is reflected on the MSRP which means it's baked in.
In any case, we can already see signs of lower supply for I guess normal demand. When you could easily get a 2080 super for 650 about 4 months ago, they are now a minimum $700. That price difference is also similar with a 2080ti.

In the last few months, console news, rumors, and leaks have been popping in left and right, but sony always seemed to be ahead of Microsoft in talking about their console. Their interview with Wired where their lead architect talked about the PS5 and its SSD, the other interview about the controller having force feedback on the triggers and even the dev kit pictures that kept popping up, Microsoft just seemed a little late to the party. Well. no more since the green team has just unveiled their next console, the Xbox Series X. i’ts such terrible name. This is not a watch Microsoft. Its a console, it needs a cool name. I would have preferred X1000… wait that’s bad too.
Anyways, they unveiled it, and wow is it a piece of equipment. It might not seem like it, but that thing is huge. Judging by the disk slot, it’s around 7 and inches wide and thick and about 12 inches tall. That makes it about the same volume if not more compared to the original Xbox one X. You know, the one that looks like a VCR? This thing will not fit anywhere in my cabinet, that is for sure. It seems like Microsoft just said, hey, let’s just make a mini ITX pc and ship that!
Now, of course, I’m just kidding that’s not what they did. Microsoft did say that they would use a custom SOC, which brings me to the title of this video. This SOC is weird.
So here are the facts, Microsoft will use AMD’s next-gen RDNA for the console’s graphics. So RDNA 2. Microsoft will also use AMD’s Zen 2 architecture for the CPU. Now Zen 2, as AMD likes to remind us is on the 7nm process. As for RDNA2, AMD locked it in for a 7nm+EUV process.
You see where I’m going here? they don’t have the same process yet are still on the same chip. This means that the custom chips for consoles are likely going to be made on a 7nm+ process. Kind of like a Zen 2.5 CPU with RDNA2 integrated graphics. Now I know what you’re going to say, Zen 2 has a chiplet design so they could just plop one chiplet for the cores, one for the GPU and one for the IO. And sure, they could, but the Project Scarlett video shows a monolithic design. Not only that, but the PS5 was also confirmed to be an integrated SOC.
