Facebook Church During COVID 19; Biblical Earth According to Job 38:14; Is 40:22; Prov 8:27; Job 26:10; and Revelation 20:9. All these passages reference the earth as being a circular disk. Revelation 20:9 is especially of interest in the original Greek in which the word translated for "breadth of the earth" is actually "platos" which means similar to a plate or plateau. It is the same etymology where we get our modern English word for "plate." The verb form of this same Greek root, "platus" means "to spread out flat," indicating that the translation should be one of the following: "plate of earth," "plateau of earth," "flatness of earth," or simply, "flat earth." If the writers of scripture had a sphere in mind when describing the earth, certainly they would not have used words like "clay seal," "compass," "horizon," "circle," and "plate" to describe it.
