ROADTRIP: RYKER - 2019 Texas Hammock Hangers - Day 2
It's Saturday morning, November 9, 2019, and I'm spending the day at Fairfield Lake, TX. Skip to the end of this description for clickable time indexes.

I woke up just before the crack of dawn to a clear, still, 32°F morning near the lake. The overnight temps dropped to ~30°F (-1C), but I slept very warmly and comfortably in my new hammock. This was my first outing with the Sierra Madre Research Ninox (https://sierramadreresearch.com/products/ninox-flatlay-system) paired up with the Inferno 30° insulation (https://sierramadreresearch.com/products/inferno-insulation-system). I was so toasty that I had to uncover myself a few times, so their 30° rating seems to be very accurate (maybe under-rated).

The Ninox hammock is very roomy and I didn't have any problems finding comfortable positions throughout the night. My only reservation about the Ninox is the lack of storage pockets or a gear loft to organize personal items in the hammock's interior. There is a sturdy ridgeline with a ridgeline organizer, but it's very high overhead when you are laying down and that makes it difficult to reach. I have better luck with gear lofts or foot box organizers in these big hammocks because I can stuff extras at the head or foot of the hammock and retrieve them easier.

I walked around the camp a little bit in this video to show how I typically deploy my hammocks, and then I decided to lounge for the rest of the afternoon. The temperatures throughout the day hovered around 62°F with a light breeze, so it was a perfect day to hang in a hammock and be lazy. Unfortunately, I had to pack everything up and head back to Houston for a work engagement at 10pm that evening. I will definitely be returning to that park for another stay! ??

Time indexes:
0:00 : My lazy Saturday afternoon
0:45 : A quick look at the hammocks
3:12 : Walking around camp a little... I don't see any other moto-campers
5:25 : The fall foliage is really beautiful here this time of year
7:36 : Questions from curious people about my "baby Spyder" ?
8:02 : Thoughts about the Ninox and missing features
9:00 : Time for a lazy afternoon nap, and a quick slideshow of the day's events
