This is the other Mono Pass in the Eastern Sierra. It is totally unrelated to the other one I posted in Yosemite. For still pictures and more explanation go here:

Note: I had to battle wind and was tired for 60 frames a second. Some of the footage is shakey, but you can pause if you see anything in the zooms you like. I have gotten better techniques and tools since filming so this should not be too much of an issue in future mountain hikes. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzQP07N56Ps
Some alternative footage. To see the rainbow colors you have to see it in the Angle #1 footage. For a few still pics and more explanation:

Merry Christmas Edition (2/3)
Since the movie comes out today...
One of the Alabama Hills locations used from the trailer of "Django Unchained". I have already written a blog about this location when I saw the trailer earlier this year: tinyurl.com/cm6p6az
Note: All my location videos that have movie clips in them are done for context on how the location was used and for educational purposes only. My commentary and criticism of the use of filming in these public locations is protected by "fair use" in Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976. If you want to see full movies then you need to buy the dvd(s) or watch them on television.

This is an update of my old video. I give commentary on a few examples of movies filmed here, but many more have shown this area in them (Ex. Tremors, Hopalong Cassidy movies, etc.). This one may take some pauses and repeated watching to figure out everything I show since I did not explain everything. Some is obvious, but some things are subtle.
Also, RIP Pernell Roberts. I had no idea he passed away last weekend when I started editing the clips together. I liked how I started the old video with him, so I did it again here. It is important to note, his character along with Randolph Scott do survive that movie. The situation was not as dire as his character predicts.
I have an old blog on this location:

Happy Christmas!
I had all these ideas about making videos for the Donner Party tragedy but then realized when I was there it was not going to work the way I had in my head. So, I just used this video as an opportunity as an experiment to use the sim footage with the few clips I took.
The sims use of the landscapes is the key, and not the buildings nearby. It is kind of silly to see huge buildings in some of the rural surroundings in the sim. Lol! Hopefully, in time, they change that.

This is an update of an old video I did a few years back.
Morgan S. Earp
April 24,1851-Mar. 18, 1882
After the Gunfight at the OK Corral in Oct., 1881, Morgan was shot while playing pool with brother Wyatt at Campbell and Hatch Billiard parlor on Tombstone's Allen Street around 10pm on Saturday, March 18, 1882.
