The situation in Kabul has cut short a planned vacation at Camp David with Marine One returning to Fort McNair due to South Lawn construction and a Presidential motorcade zipping through the city prior to a national address today about Afghanistan. We also take a quick look at the Afghan Embassy in Washington DC (many cars outside but no visible activity) as the situation on the ground in Kabul is constantly in flux.

Protestors decided to meet DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas when he woke up to get his newspaper on the front step, which mean the DC Police decided to send a civil disturbance unit screaming past my house while I was still tucked up in bed. That got me out the door and down the street to see this protest, and then later I decided to head over to the National Mall, just in time to dodge a monstrous thunderstorm by visiting the African American History Museum, which is really quite impressive, except for the lighting which is really quite bad for video. Apologies for the low-quality video today. I’ll try to do better next time I go back to this interesting museum.

Marine One, fighter jets, soldiers marching, motorcades driving, and the Park Police helicopter taking a break. These are just a few of the things we saw in the first half of the day today, Veterans' Day 2021. I take you over to Arlington where we see a parade to honor the fallen and a flyover of military jets from all branches of the service screams overhead in the missing man formation. We then head to Arlington's famous "Section 60"--the area of the recent casualties from Iraq and Afghanistan where the emotional toll of those conflicts is still raw and powerful. We catch Joe Biden coming to Arlington and on the road home again back to the White House. And of course we find time for a hot dog. Take a peak today--lots happening in Washington DC

This is a LONG video today because I did a bunch of stuff. We set out to see what was new at the White House and the Capitol, seeing a few protestors on the way, but when that kind of got dull we went to explore in Upper NW on an old abandoned railroad line, only to then find out that Joe Biden was on his way to the US Capitol (where I just was). Back on the bike and back to Capitol Hill. When that dust settled and the sunset, we took a trip to the White House to see the color change that took place last night. Then I was spent, but the next morning was a Marine One flight so I added that as a bonus.

Yesterday was a bit nuts, and it get even more nuts after I posted my video. Secret Service and FBI, both heavily armed, entered the Venezuelan Ambassador's place. Here is some of the video, along with this morning's video at the White House. Special bonus at the end--more anti-aircraft missiles in the DMV.

Guys, as interesting the title might sound, this was a pretty boring day just biking around the White House and looking for something to do.

Walking along Cotton Tree Drive past the Hong Kong Fire Service Central Fire Station when I caught a snorkel and a Light Rescue Unit (LRU) responding to a call in the middle of rush hour traffic. Despite the large number of cars they actually made it out relatively easily.
Sorry about the sound. Bit of a glitch midway through. Fixed as best as I could.

I spent most of the day being a dad, so I didn't have a chance to get out until quite late, just in time for the rain to fall and prevent me from filming basically anything. I ran over to the Lincoln Memorial to take in the view of the storm (which wasn't much) and then heard a police call for a shooting in Georgetown. I ran over to see that, and then back to the White House to see Joe Biden's motorcade returning from his trip to Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania.
But all in all, a pretty quiet day.
