The artificial womb is still a decade or two away and that's probably just artificial wombs for premature babies. I predict the first artificial wombs we'll see for human babies are the type for babies that today wouldn't survive if they were born premature. It will be just a bridge between the womb and the premature baby incubator. Babies that are four months early. Then the next step will be to keep those babies in the incubator for longer periods of time. And eventually keep them there for the entire four months. Once the nutrient mix is made right and you can keep babies in there from any stage of development then you'll see women that get abortions choosing to get abortions and have the babies put in incubators and given to parents that want to adopt children. And then finally women will realize that they don't even have to carry children at all. So women will start to use artificial wombs and artificial insemination to have children. And men will do the same. Men will choose to have male children because they won't want to deal with estrogen filled teenage daughters. And mothers will feel the same way and have more male children then female ones. So males will start to outnumber females in our society. And society will see women as unproductive and a hassle to raise. Boys are harder to raise when you're younger but they are generally more self sufficient when it comes to work. And demand a lot less material resources. So at that point men will have no choice but to become extremely wealthy to get the attention of one of the few women out there. Or men will start looking for alternatives like androids for companionship. At that point I'm going to make a greater leap in sci-fi land. What if the government simply took male and female genetic material created a baby, put it into an incubator and then had two state sponsored android parents raise the child.
