We might as well call this the "Elusive Bull" because I've been trying to get my hands on one of these La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bulls for over a year. It's like a perfecto, but the foot has been hacked off to create a small shoulder. The La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull is a medium leather color with a somewhat rustic looking wrapper. After cutting the end and torching the foot, the flavors were bold, spicey, and a little sweet. The draw started off perfectly, but the burn was uneven at the start. The final third, perhaps due to the spiciness of the first part of the cigar, was somewhat bland. Overall, the Andalusian Bull offered a variety of flavors and was fairly complex. I tasted lots of spice from the Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper as well as hints of creaminess from the Dominican binder and fillers. Regarding the construction of the cigar, that was pretty good as well. The draw was perfect, but there were a couple of burn issues that led to unevenness. If you can find and purchase a La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull for around $15, buy one and try it. However, if you're going to spend $20-$22 as I did, I'd recommend the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Generacion V Salomon instead. Initial Thoughts: Oh boy, am I excited to smoke the Fuente Fuente Opus X The Lost City! I got this cigar from the Luxury Cigar Club a few months ago, and I've been chomping at the bit to enjoy this cigar. So, on a beautiful Boston day, I decided it was time. The Opus X Lost City lit easily and was delicious from the first puff. The flavors were mild but rich, and I liked them immediately. Brand: Arturo Fuente Line: Fuente Fuente Opus X, The Lost City Size: 5 1/4 x 50 Cut: Guillotine Light: Torch Price: $29 Final Thoughts: After only getting to enjoy the Fuente Fuente Opus X The Lost City for just over 60 minutes, I was left a little disappointed. I know robustos aren't going to last as long as a toro would, but for $30, this cigar should have lasted just a little longer. The flavors of The Lost City were quite delicious. The dry draw had hints of cinnamon, but those gave way to a sweet, leathery taste I really enjoyed. The burn, while never perfectly even, had no major issues, and the draw only got tighter during the final third of the smoke. However, after I turned the camera off after my final thoughts, a crack in the wrapper did show up. While the flavors were good, I don't know that they were $30 for 60 minutes good. While the branding of Black Label Trading and Black Works Studio is 100% confusing, both brands tend to make good cigars. Also, they're the same company. See? After delivering the Deliverance from the cellophane (see what I did there?), the first thing I noticed was the cigar's rustic wrapper and the massive vein running the length of the short cigar. Once the torpedo end was cut, the cold draw was very loose, and the flavors were like sawdust. Once the cigar was lit, I thought I tasted really nice and smooth Nicaraguan tobacco with plenty of spice. Not only did the flavors taste more like green, fresh wood than I expected, but the Deliverance was nothing like the other Black Label or Black Works cigars we've reviewed in the past. I also tasted flavors that were somewhat metallic. That said, the construction of the Black Label Trading Co Deliverance seemed great and the draw was amazing through the middle of the smoke. Final Thoughts The Black Label Trading Co Deliverance Perfecto was an interesting cigar. It was toothy and rustic. It was not what I was expecting from this brand. The Pennsylvania Broadleaf was bold and contradictory to the Nicaraguan binder and filler. And, I didn't really care for it all that much. While the cigar wasn't visually attractive (remember that thick vein running the length of the cigar), the construction of the cigar was pretty good. The draw was perfect through the entire smoke, as was the burn. But, I didn't really enjoy the flavors. Instead of deeply roasted coffee flavors, which are typical of BLTC and BWS cigars, the Deliverance tasted metallic and somewhat earthy. Although the cigar was a little confusing, and was, perhaps, the ugly duckling from the box, the Deliverance was well crafted and technically correct. And while the flavors weren't a home run for me, you might like them. A well-made, well-maintained humidor will help you keep your cigars in perfect smoking conditions so they're ready to light up when you're ready to enjoy them. Today I'm unboxing and giving you my first impressions of the Raching C150A humidor. According to the box, this is the Raching Wooden Thermostatic Cigar Humidor C150A, but we'll just call it the Raching C150A for short. Initial Thoughts: Honestly, when I found out the C150A would arrive on a pallet, I thought, “That's dumb.” I knew it was about 150 pounds, but a pallet? Anyway, this thing is huge. It's very well built, but it's large. The cedar walls are thick, the door is thick (more on that later), and the unit is fairly deep and would stick out from any wall a fair amount. However, this thing was packaged super-well. Raching obviously cares that their humidors arrive in perfect condition. I appreciated all the extra reinforced padding, but it did lead to a lot of extra trash. After all of the packaging and padding and protection were removed, the Raching C150A looked really nice. Also, the smell of Spanish cedar filled the room as soon as I opened the glass door. Initial Thoughts: When I picked out this brand new, just released in May 2019, cigar, I was searching for more "breakfast cigars" to add to my humidor. And, this AVO Unexpected Celebration is about as light as they come. Immediately after putting the torch to the foot, I noticed how light the flavors were. Just seconds after the cold draw gave me notes of sweet corn, the cigar burned with hints of roasted honey. However, the draw was perfect. The burn was almost perfect. The flavors were really nice, but there was the faintest whiff of harshness at the very end. Now for the MAJOR problem with the Unexpected Celebration... The problem I have with the AVO Unexpected Celebration is that it won't be around for very long. This limited edition cigar only had a production run of about 1500 boxes or 30,000 cigars. If you don't hurry, you might not get to smoke this delicious cigar.
