Today I review a budget USB Dynamic Mic, the LyxPro HHMU-10 or HMU-10. This thing is just a USB mic, there’s no latency free monitoring or XLR output. For the price, I don’t think I could justify it since the Q2u is a few dollars more expensive.

Today I review the Dragonpad USA mic, a budget XLR condenser mic that looks exactly like the NW800 / BM800. Surprisingly, this mic has a very different sound than the aforementioned microphones. This mic lacks a lot of low end and sounds thin.

Today I review an iPhone microphone, the iRig Mic Studio, which is an iOS / Android / Mac / Windows compatible microphone. This mic provides clarity that is almost too much, due to the overly boosted high end, causing it to sound slightly unnatural. It records 24-bit 48kHz which is nice, and it does a decent job at rejecting plosives.

Today I review a $13 lavalier microphone kit. This seems to be a similar built to a mic I reviewed 7 years ago and it has the sam functionality. The sound is tolerable but leans towards muddy in the bass and congested in the mids. It also has a low sensitivity and sounds like it has a high self noise so if you're looking for noiseless recordings this will not offer it for you.

Today I review the Deity S-Mic 2, a microphone on par with shotgun microphones double its price. This offers a relatively flat frequency response, a very sturdy build quality, and water resistance if you record in humid environments. If you’re looking for a more neutral shotgun microphone sub $500, this is a great option in my opinion.

Today I review a budget / affordable XLR condenser microphone, the Tascam TM-80. The microphone comes in between $60-$70, and it has a mid forward sound with a smoother top end. It does a pretty good job with background noise rejection and I’ve heard microphones do a much worse job at plosive and shock rejection. For $60-$70, I think it’s a pretty good deal

Today I review the Lauten Audio LS208, an end address condenser microphone for podcasting and broadcasting. It offers impressive side and rear rejection (for a condenser), as well as multiple high pass and low pass filters to tailor the sound to fit your voice. The mic does tend to be a bit on the sibilant side, suffer from less than optimal plosive rejection, all while being a bit quiet for a condensers (-46dB sensitivity).

Today I review the Rode VideoMic NTG Camera-mount Shotgun Mic. This is a camera top shotgun microphone, but also a USB Shotgun Microphone.
