Keywording Tips Aperture
There are a number of different ways that you can add keywords to your photos in Aperture and in this video we are going to look at the different ways that you can do it. You can use the info window in the sidebar on the left-hand side and add keyword songs you can see the place for keywords within that space. You can get to this by choosing the general option all the captions and keywords from the drop-down menu. You do have to be careful in the way that you key in the words to make sure that you don't put in words that are not quite right to the word that you should be using. It doesn't help your searching if you have a word which is basically the same word but one of them is plural.

There is also the heads up display for the Inspector and you can do the same within that had the display as you would do in the Inspector in the sidebar. Which you would use out of these two would be dependent upon how you are arranging your windows of the application aperture on your desktop.

You can also add keywords by using the keyword HUD Heads up Display. When you are using the keywords heads up display you will get the benefit of aperture giving you an auto fill so for example if you start typing the letters S N A you will soon see that you are given options of words that begin with those three letters such as snake or snack.

Another way that you can add keywords to your files is to use the control bar which is available in the bottom of the window of Aperture. You can press the letter D to get this control bar available or you can get a bus and to control whether the control bar is available to view in the icon bar at the top of the window. In the control bar you can take advantage of the one click to add a keyword from any categories that you set up. You can create your own sets of keywords and it would make sense to have something that is more attuned to the types of photographs that you take.

You can have keywords that have subordinate keywords so that there is a sort of hierarchy. However deep you have made the keywords go in the hierarchy it doesn't affect on how well the application finds keywords when you are searching for them in the keywords HUD. In this video I also show you how you can merge keywords and this is something that you might have to do if you have two words that are similar in some way or other and would be better off as one single word.
