This trailer (sorry, it’s the official teaser) for a Western about rival outlaw gangs opens with a train heist where Regina King and Lakeith Stanfield free Idris Elba from captivity— with “Let’s Start” by Fela Kuti playing — and then proceed to shoot their way out in slow-motion. It’s almost too much cool to take in all at once. Our plot: Outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) and his gang Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi), and Jim Beckwourth (RJ Cyler) are rivals of the newly-released Rufus Buck (Elba) and his crew, Treacherous Judy Smith (King), and Cherokee Bill (Stanfield). Delroy Lindo and Damon Wayans Jr., also star in The Harder They Fall, (what a cast!) which is directed by Jeymes Samuel and is coming to Netflix soon (hurry up pls!).

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
Mark Zuckerberg’s extensive video about Facebook / Meta’s pivot to the metaverse has become something of a meme, but perhaps the best parody of the presentation was done this week by, of all places, the country of Iceland.
In a nearly two-and-a-half-minute video, a man who is identified as Chief Visionary Officer Zack Mossbergsson begins a discussion about “a revolutionary approach on how to connect our world without being super weird.
“Some said it’s not possible,” he continues. “Some said it’s out of reach. To them, we say, it’s already here.” He then gestures in the general direction of a beautiful, snow-covered Icelandic landscape that stretches as far as the eye can see. “Seriously, look, it’s right here.”
The rest of the video is a hilarious pitch for the “Icelandverse,” which he describes as an “enhanced, actual reality without silly-looking headsets.” I don’t want to spoil much more, but expect a lot of beautiful shots of Iceland and some corny but good jokes.
We finally have a date for the fourth and final season of Ozark, the story of the money-laundering Byrde family. We don’t get much else new in this teaser/trailer, but see Jason Bateman and Laura Linney walking through a gate with his voiceover saying “Today is a beginning.” Ozark returns to Netflix on January 21st, 2022.
