Vertical shoot'em ups or Up and Downy SHMUPS as some people call them have been one of the oldest genres ever to grace a video screen. In 1986 Taito released Slap Fight, also known as A.L.C.O.N. in some territories and Imagine had the game ported to home systems, including the C64.
This episode of Games of Praise features the C64 version of Slap Fight/A.L.C.O.N and show host Chris O'Regan struggled with it as it is a very tough game.

Watch Mads play the old Sierra adventure game "The Colonel's Bequest" on a stream with Phoenix_Z80 and RetroClarence. Fair warning, we are not very good at it :-)
All recorded from real hardware of course - the game was running on DOS 6.22 on a Pentium 75 with a SoundBlaster sound card.
