Timing in English speaking is essential to speaking fluently. Today, I am going to show you what I just taught one of my private clients (C2 English level) about rhythm and matching a cadence when we speak. I will show you how to break a sentence into speaking parts so that you can say them fluently. We will see how to remove letters to blend words together. We will also learn an equally important skill in stretching out the timing of words to match the speaking pattern.
I want you to think of timing in English like waves at the beach. Each thing you say follows the same pattern and cadence of the waves. Once you create a timing, you need to make the words in the sentences match the timing. Only then can you deliver a fluent idea. It is also very important that you think of the thing you are communicating as not just a single sentence but a single idea. Multiple sentences on the same idea must match the same timing that you started with. This rhythm for speaking will improve your fluency.

I will show you how to answer reading comprehension questions the easy way. First, we will take a look at the questions for the story. When you answer reading comprehension questions, the best thing to do first is to read the questions. Reading the questions helps you know what to look for in the story. After we have looked at the questions, we can read the story once to try and get an understanding of what the story is about. Now, we will look back at the questions and try to find exactly what they need us to look for in the story.
I will teach you a trick on how to read a question see which part you need to find in the story. Hint: The verb/action is what is most important and the biggest key word on where the answer will be in the story.

These are the practice reading comprehension questions for today's story.
1. What is this story about?
2. What was John’s job?
3. Why was he sad last year?
4. What was John sure to do?
5. What did John design for his house?
6. How did John change this year?
Here is today's reading comprehension story.
His house was finally finished! John was an architect, which meant he drew and designed houses for work. John loved his job. For the last year, he was sad at work because he was always designing houses for other people. He made sure their houses were beautiful. He made sure everyone else had a house they would love living in. John was sad because he wanted a house for himself.
John bought a plot of land. His plot of land was very big, and had no houses on it yet. John drew a house on paper. He made sure the rooms and windows were very big. He also drew three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a big living room. John hired people, and paid them money so they would build his house. Finally, after a year, John’s house was finished. John was so happy, he jumped for joy!
