But during his lifetime, Attenborough has also seen first-hand the monumental scale of humanity's impact on nature. Global carbon emissions are about 10 billion tons of carbon per year. That goes into the atmosphere as 37 billion tons of carbon dioxide — a greenhouse gas. That’s about 1.5 tons of carbon (5.5 tons of carbon dioxide), per person per year, but rich countries emit far more than poor ones. In the U.S. the average persons adds 16 tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere each year. 'Climate Change' is viewed through many lenses. 'Experts' agree that we will not meet our goals for mitigating climate change without forests to remove carbon from the atmosphere. Climate Change And Australian Bushfires Deforestation — of which the burning of tropical forests is the major component —contributes about 10% of all emissions, because as I point out in this Climate Science video; 'TREES ARE THE LUNGS OF THE EARTH'! Some tropical countries have much higher carbon emissions than one might expect from their industrial activities. Here, the practice of burning tropical forests to grow crops and graze cattle adds carbon and destroys trees that absorb carbon dioxide (C02), as I mention. The simple expectation is that the loss of tropical forests would show up exactly as a gain in cropland and grazing land. In fact, only a small fraction of lost tropical forest becomes cropland. The forest soils are too poor. And surprisingly, only about half the remaining lost forest becomes grazing land — and very poor grazing land too. The global average annual concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere averaged 407.4 ppm in 2018, up 2.4 ppm since 2017. This is a major increase from per-industrial levels, which ranged between 180 and 280 ppm. Sea levels are (claimed) to be rising by an average of 1 inch every five years. Scientists estimate that 150 million people are now living on land that will be below the high-tide line by 20509 (18,489 years from now!) - These figures are quoted directly FROM 'Climate change' sources, so if they can't even quote accurate figures online, how knowledgeable are they REALLY? And if their figures ARE correct - it's hardly a climate emergency, is it? GLOBAL CARBON EMISSIONS Global carbon dioxide emissions increased from 2 billion tons per year in 1900 to over 36 billion tons in 2017. The numbers will keep climbing if we don’t take action...Such as planting trees as I suggest, to ABSORB more C02. The amount of carbon dioxide per capita varies widely. In general, the oil producing countries in the Middle East top the charts, followed by developed countries.
