Now, they will carry out Lanz's ascension quest. The party resumes at the City Camp in the City. They skip travel to the Fuller Elevator Landing in the Great Sword's Base, Cadensia Region. Just north of the Fuller Elevator Landing, the party finds the info "Curious About Training". They skip travel back to the City Camp in the City, where they discuss "Curious About Training". This starts the hero quest "Side Story: Lanz", Lanz's ascension quest. A scene takes place after the discussion. Great, another Moebius scheme is in the works. The party goes to the Training Ground in the southwest of the City. This triggers a cutscene sequence. Then, the party heads north to Centrilo Parade. They approach Zack south of Serene Square for another scene. Next, they go north and take the elevator down to the War Room. They approach Monica and Travis for a cutscene. Afterwards, the party skip travels to Morrack Inlet at the Great Sword's Base, Cadensia Region. They approach the target marker for a cutscene sequence. The party progresses south. As they approach the next target marker in Knife's Edge Pass, a cutscene with Monica and some Lost Numbers takes place. The party continues through Knife's Edge Pass. They approach the target marker at the entrance to the Pedesto Valley Floor for another cutscene with Monica. The party approaches the enemy camp and discovers the Cradle Convoy Shelter landmark. They avoid notice by hugging the northern wall of the valley as they approach the transport. When they reach the transport, they examine its open hatch for a cutscene. Who couldn't have seen that trouble was coming? The Kevesi party members meet the recent incarnations of former acquaintances. After the scene, it is boss time against Team Garvel, consisting of Garvel, Layla, Hoope, and two Equites. The Equites are easy enough to defeat first. The enemies' levels are in the high 40s, so my party has no problem making Garvel grovel. Another scene takes place after the battle. Then, it is boss time against Moebius H. Certainly more of a challenge. Moebius H uses some ice-based attacks. She can also prevent allies from acting for a set time based on their role, such as attacker. Even so, my party has no trouble getting rid of her. When the battle is over, another cutscene sequence takes place. One scene takes place at the battle site. Another takes place at Morrack Inlet. Scenes at Centrilo Parade in the City wrap up the quest. "Side Story: Lanz" complete! The rank limit for Heavy Guard is raised to 20. Lanz gains a second Soul Link slot. The party checks around the City again. They can now find Zack wandering around. Looks like Travis in the War Room has a new quest event. The party skip travels to the City Camp and saves. In the Offline edition, the reward was the Sacred Lord's Mural recipe book, which has recipes for the Sacred Lord's weapon set. The party also explored the Badley Rocky Zone for treasure and then concluded with some accessory synthesis in Velinard. Now, they will carry out the quest to unlock the fishing minigame and then begin leveling up fishing. Velinard (time 0:28): The party resumes in the church in Velinard Castle Town. Under his Royal skill, Raguas installs a couple of Silver Skill Up Panels to level up his experience boost node. The party goes outside and Zooms to Port Town Rendoa South. Rendoa South (time 4:07): At D-4/D-5, the party talks to Fishing Master Harmos. He issues Quest 021: "That Guy, the Fishing Master". Harmos gives the party the Sturdy Fishing Rod (じょうぶな釣りざお) and the Silver Lure (ぎんのルアー). The party's next objective is to go to the waterside and catch a fish to show Harmos. Heorot starts at Fishing Level 1. The new Fish Bag (さかなぶくろ) option appears under the Inventory menu. The fish that the party catches will show up here. It has room for 100 fish. As for fishing equipment, it shows up in the Summary Bag (おまとめぶくろ). The party goes to the end of the dock at G-6. They use a Double Bubble to boost fishing experience earned. Pressing the confirm button brings up the fishing menu. The first option is to go ahead and fish. The second option cancels. The third option brings up the fishing equipment menu. The Sturdy Fishing Rod and Silver Lure are equipped by default. Heorot begins fishing. In this game, fishing is a turn-based battle between the player and a fish. Just below the player, a diagram shows line strength on the left and the fish's distance in meters on the right. Line strength is the player's health, while the fish's distance is its health. The objective is to reel in the fish before the line strength runs out. The first option is to reel in normally, which damages the line a little bit. The second option restores some line strength. The third option is to reel in at high strength, but this damages the fishing line more than reeling normally. The second and third options have a limited number of uses per battle. The last option is to give up. On the fish's turn, the fish may take an action such as damaging the line or gaining distance. If the line strength runs out, the fish escapes. The player catches the fish if the distance reaches 0 meters. The player earns experience based on the type of fish caught. After Heorot catches a fish, he jumps to Fishing Level 3. His next objective is to report to Harmos. Heorot reports to Fishing Master Harmos at D-4/D-5. Quest 021 complete! The party can now turn in fish to fish exchange workers, such as the NPC to Harmos's left. They will earn fish tokens that they can exchange for prizes. Also, as Heorot gains Fishing Levels, he can talk to Harmos for better fishing gear. To start with, Heorot's Fishing level limit is 21. He will be able to undergo a Fishing level limit quest when he reaches Fishing Level 18. The party talks to Picho, the Pukuripo wearing a squid cap next to Harmos. The first option is to turn in fish individually. The second option is to turn in all fish at once. The third option is to browse the prize list. The fourth option provides an explanation. The party turns in the fish they have caught so far for fish tokens. Then, they check the prize list. Note the Orbs available for a cool 20,000 tokens apiece! Plenty of other things are available, too. The party returns to the end of the dock at G-6 and catches some more fish. This is a decent place for a few levels to start with. Only a couple types of fish are available. During the fishing, Heorot reaches Fishing Level 4, Level 5, and Level 6. At Fishing Level 6, the party talks to Harmos at D-4/D-5. For Fishing Level 3, they earn the Beautiful Fishing Rod (きれいな釣りざお). For Fishing Level 6, they earn the Platinum Lure (プラチナルアー). Harmos's first option is a list of fishing quests. The second option shows his prize list by Fishing Level. The third option provides explanations. The party also exchanges their fish to Picho. This is video #079 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV for the PC. This is episode 39 of the second playthrough. I am playing on Hard mode. Now, they will farm for tails so they can acquire Adamant Armor and Onion gear. At this point, this is mainly for the Steam achievements. All tails are ultra-rare drops. Lunar Subterrane: The party resumes in the save room on floor B7 in the Lunar Subterrane. They head upstairs through floor B6 to floor B5. The party enters the southeast room on the lowest level of floor B5. There, they can use Sirens to encounter Flan Princesses. This encounter is annoying because the Flan Princesses will inflict the party with Berserk. Fortunately, Cecil will be immune if he is wearing the Crystal Armor. He has himself up to tank again. After a fight, Cecil learns the Gil Farmer ability and equips it. Might as well earn more gil while doing this. Edge equips the Treasure Hunter ability. After a few encounters, the party scores a Pink Tail (time 7:00). Marvelous! The party Teleports out of the Lunar Subterrane. Lunar Surface (time 7:39): The party heads through the Lunar Tunnel - East and Lunar Tunnel - West to the Lunar Whale. Aboard the ship, they rest. Then, they take off for the Blue Planet. Blue Planet Overworld (time 9:06): The party lands near Mythril and uses the Hovercraft to go to the Adamant Isle Grotto. Adamant Isle Grotto (time 10:00): The party turns in the Pink Tail to the elder gnome. He rewards them with a suit of Adamant Armor! For obtaining Adamant Armor, the player earns the Steam achievement "To the End of Misery". The Adamant Armor is excellent. It provides elemental resistance and high stat boosts. In fact, paired with a Curse Ring, it will provide elemental absorption! Good stuff. The party heads outside. Overworld (time 11:26): Now, it is time to go after tails for the Onion gear. The party boards the Lunar Whale and flies to the Moon. Lunar Surface (time 12:28): The party heads to the Lair of the Father in the east. Lair of the Father (time 13:08): The party goes through floor B1 to B2. On B2, they can use Sirens to encounter Armored Fiends. Eventually, an Armored Fiend drops a Black Tail (time 20:50). That is what the party needs, so they Teleport out. Lunar Surface (time 21:19): The party boards the Lunar Whale. They fly to the Hummingway Abode. Hummingway Abode (time 21:59): The party stocks up on more Sirens. Then, they head back out. Lunar Surface (time 22:15): Aboard the Lunar Whale, the party positions the ship near the start of the Lunar Tunnel - West. He checked out the towns of Tantegel and Galenholm and also visited Erdrick's shrine. He did some grinding, as well. Now, he will continue grinding and questing. Davilas resumes in Tantegel Castle. He heads northwest to Galenholm to pick up an Iron Axe. Then, he grinds across the bridge south of town until he can pick up some Chain Mail. Afterwards, Davilas treks to the village of Kol in the northeast of the world. On the peninsula northwest of Kol, he also visits the Rain Shrine. He must fetch a curious harp before he can obtain the Staff of Rain. Davilas does some grinding around Kol village until he can pick up a suit of Iron Armour. Then, Davilas heads to the Rocky Mountain Cave. It is in the mountains southwest of Tantegel. Torches are needed here. The layout of the cave differs from its layout in the original NES version. On the lower floor, a chest may contain a Choker. The Choker is a cursed accessory, but it can be sold for a tidy profit. At Tantegel town, Davilas sells the Choker for 1,200 gold.
