FC Inter Milan u13 warmup | dribbling | agility & coordination
I apologize for the quality of the video. Its not great, I know, but it is a good exercise so I decided to upload. I shot this during one of my early visits to ‘Interello’, Inter Milan’s academy training complex which is in the northern part of the city.
DESCRIPTION: This is a great exercise and a little more to it than meets the eye:
1. Slalom dribble through cones.
2. Dribble past first cone, sole of foot change of direction around second cone, dribble past third.
3. Slalom through hurdles. *The next player in line dribbles with the opposite foot that the player in front of him used.
4. Push ball under/jump over first hurdle, outside of the foot around second hurdle, push the ball under/jump over. *In the right line, everything is done with the left foot. In the left line, everything is done with the right foot.
5. Push ball under/jump over first hurdle, sole of the foot around second hurdle, push ball under/jump over third hurdle. *In the right line, everything is done with the left foot. In the left line, everything is done with the right foot.
6. Push ball under/jump over first hurdle, step-over then sole of the foot to get around second hurdle, push ball under/jump over third hurdle. Players proceed to the back of the opposite line.

This a great little exercise from Feyenord's academy in the Netherlands.
DESCRIPTION: 3 gates (sets of 2 cones) set up as shown. Each set is a different color. The players run over the hurdles as quickly as possible. After exiting the hurdles the trainer calls one of the 3 colors and the players sprint through that gate.
Progression 1: the player must do a forward roll before running through the gate.
Progression 2: Instead of calling a color the trainer intermittently passes the ball to a player who passes it right back. This player returns to the line.

I shot this during my last visit to La Masia this past November. This not the academy u8's but the 'Escola' u8s. The Escola (school) is the level just below the academy. These are players who are being considered for the academy. I have to admit, I was impressed with the technical level of these 6 and 7 year olds. Despite their age they were incredibly composed on the ball and, at times, surprisingly creative. In particular, watch the the taller, blonde-haired player on the blue team. I would not be surprised to see him called up the academy sooner rather than later. We will, for sure, follow up on our next visit to La Masia.
DESCRIPTION: 6 players divided into two teams (red and blue) and one neutral player (yellow). Two grids: one grid approx 15 x 15 yards with a smaller grid approx 5 x 5 yards in the center. Each team earns a point when they are able to successfully complete a pass that travels through the smaller grid to a teammate.
