Both the cities of Edmonton and Calgary in Alberta have issued tax hikes in these difficult economic times and both cities claim there will be benefits to taxpayers and city residents. However, Friends of Science takes a look at one part of the City of Calgary's $87 billion climate plan and asks some probing questions about the 'urban forestry' programs in both cities. It appears the cities are trying to vastly increase the urban forest canopy as a 'climate change' mitigation....and also maybe to sell some carbon credits. Maybe this is not such a good deal for taxpayers after all! And what role to foreign-funded or foreign climate activist groups play in pushing through such policies, when most city taxpayers are more interested in having roads paved in summer, cleared of snow in winter, and making sure the police and city social services can keep people safe. The city propaganda claims trees help with mental health. But not if tax increases for tree planting mania pushes residents into stressful poverty! Robert Lyman gave this presentation at the Friends of Science Climate Dogma Exposed Event on May 9, 2017. He is an Ottawa energy economist and policy consultant and was a public servant for 27 years and diplomat for 10 years. Many countries including Canada had failed miserably to meet previous emission targets. Lyman said "Achieving the aspirational goal of 80 per cent reduction recommended by the IPCC would mean ... reducing Canada’s per capita emissions and our energy economy to the current levels of Bolivia, Sudan or Iraq."

Astrophysicist and climate scientist Dr. Willie Soon gave this presentation titled "The Sun Also Warms" at the Friends of Science 16th Annual Major Event on April 10, 2019 at the Red & White Club in Calgary, Alberta. Dr. Soon probed the long history in the quest to understand Sun-climate connections. He presents clear evidence of a strong urban heat island effect that contaminates the government temperature data sets. Using a rural temperature data set, he shows strong correlations between the sun's energy and temperatures. The sun's irradiance varies much more than sunspots.

If the media are dedicated to truth and accuracy, and if they are willing to give front page coverage to a frightened, panicked teenager to scare you, why won't they interview the adult scientists of CLINTEL who agree there is no climate emergency?

Despite current technological advances, author Steve Goreham expresses his view that we live in a time of superstition – that driving electric cars will make storms less severe or changing our light bulbs will save polar bears. Goreham has spent the past 8 years researching and debunking many of the myths about renewable energy and sustainability. He is a popular speaker with the business community. Ironically, tragically for society, most universities will not even consider debating climate change, renewables or sustainability.

People in the climate activist community usually condemn carbon dioxide as a kind of "Satanic Gas" - claiming that it causes warming, wildfires, and almost every other problem you can think of. "From the archives... Robert Lyman, Ottawa energy policy consultant, former public servant of 27 years and diplomat prior to that for 10 years, explains how climate change targets are unattainable based on existing technologies; attempting to reduce emissions to meet GHG reduction targets will destroy all important industries and create socioeconomic rifts as there is no suitable mitigation method other than shutting down industry. While clean-tech advocates claim a 'breakthrough' is just around the corner, Lyman says this wishful thinking is "one of the most seductive measures that comes from the climate activists' hymnbook" and these claims have been going on for over 30 years with very limited results. Pouring money into research is important, but no guarantee - if so, cancer would have had a cure by now. No one knows when a 'breakthrough' will occur. Trying to reach unrealistic GHG reduction targets is a threat to Canada.

“Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, one by one.”
― Charles MacKay, Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds
Thoughout human history, there have been times when society seemed to go mad, swept up in furor, driven by fear. Such is the case with climate change. What began as a scientific matter has become a terrifying cult to the point that when the new chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change tells the world not to worry too much about the 1.5 degree C target which had been set as a goal to remain below, in terms of temperature rise since pre-industrial times, he barely gets any headlines. While Greta does.
Climate madness has gone too far.
Be the one who comes to your senses.
