The vitriol towards the British invaders in these songs is visceral...One can see exactly why the Irish would refute any kind of British culture and customs, ie. calling people Ma'am and Sir etc.
So I still wonder, why is it that another people oppressed by the British take on those same linguistic customs of the British that the Irish refute and refuse? I don't know!!! (Yet)
