This is the full guided tour from HaasTec 2017. Thanks to my dad for being mic guy and to our tour guide for giving an amazing tour. Out of all the tours I have been on I felt this was the best to date! Really gives a scope of just how massive the operation is at their factory and how much work goes into making a machine!

On our recent trip, Danielle and I swung by my good friend John's place and checked out his ride on railway he is in the process of working on. The railway is designed to be more than just a fun thing to ride on, it is being run to help take the trash to the bins, move firewood around, and move things to/from the connex on site. As of the time of filming, the track was not a continuous loop as some grading still had to be done as well as a bridge installed and a few gremlins worked out in the trackwork.
Below are the details John gave me for the railway for those interested.
The track gauge is 7.5"
Rails and ties are from Accutie and purchased from Steve Alley of Allen Models of Nevada. All the rails, except for those in the driveway, are aluminum. The driveway rails are aluminum to prevent damage when the propane truck shows up every 2 or 3 months.
As of the time of filming, there are about 900 feet of track laid.
The equipment is in three scales, the original equipment is 1.5" scale. The steam engine, not shown, is 2.5" scale and is based on the late Ward Kimball's Chloe engine. This needs some extensive work to make it safely operational. The maintenance equipment is 1:1 scale.
The locomotive used for filming was powered by 2 automotive batteries and has a chain drive system with a trailing car providing a seat for the operator.

The California Central Coast On30 group held our first in-person meetup and fun run in over a year at Joe's house. Originally in-person meetings were held there. He has a small setup in his garage using his existing modules, and the reverse loop modules created by another member Dave who runs a cabinet shop. Huge credit to Dave for creating these works of art and doing the foam rock casting scenery, including inside the tunnels.
Most of the footage was filmed with a Polaroid Cube camera with new batteries installed and pushed along with Tommy The Yank Tank, a blue steam engine. The orange locomotive is a model by Fran Foley and will be featured in another upcoming video.

You may recognize this as the mini layout from a long time ago and you are correct! It is out of storage and new life is being breathed into it as a miniature display/photography layout for the models I am working on. Progress on this will be slower than most projects but this is not a race, it is a slow climb to the top.
For those not familiar with narrow gauge, On30 represents 30" narrow gauge while on18 represents 18" narrow gauge.

So after running into a few snags with the original Tascam holder Jimmy from Jimmy Shaw's Tidbits was nice enough to redo the design a little for me to streamline it and make it into an even more impressive final product!

This is the Jungle Navigation Company RR which is a small freelanced On30 model railway that was shown off at the Just Trains open house in Concord. I have to give Bob the designer and maker of this layout a bunch of credit for making a layout that combines a bunch of whimsical stuff but also does it in a really artistic manner!

So for day 8 I decided to make some little On18 mine skips. I am unsure if these will be used or not on my micro train layout but I may use them as railcar loads as they are quite interesting.
These were the reference photos I freelanced my designs off of.
