Learning English Speaking Topics With Adept English ✔Lesson transcript: https://adeptenglish.com/lessons/english-speaking-topics-8/
Today’s English speaking practice podcast lesson may feel a little random, you could say it’s coming out of left field. Today’s lesson has a lot of interesting English vocabulary and uses several words that are difficult for new English language learners to pronounce.
Have you ever watched “The Big Bang Theory” and noticed Sheldon or maybe you’ve seen Greta Thunberg on TV? Well, if you have, you might notice that these people behave differently to most people. In today’s lesson we talk about the conditions that cause this behaviour, and talk about innovative research that may help us understand why these conditions occur.
We want you to listen to this English audio lesson several times. If you can find some time where you can listen and say what I say and speak what you hear out aloud. We suggest you do this somewhere private, as you might get strange looks if you do this in a public place :)

Learn English Language The Pleasurable Way ✔️Lesson Transcript: https://adeptenglish.com/lessons/learn-english-language-9/
Today’s English language lesson we talk about TV series as we practice listening to English being spoken by a native English speaker. Although I watch less TV than I used to, I’m still watching various TV series being recommended to me, by friends, during the UK lock-down.
TV in the UK has changed a lot. When I grew up, we only had 4 TV channels and a tremendous fuss was made when they added Channel 5. The problem was you had to watch most things live or miss them.
Then satellite TV came along, with 10s of channels and the ability to pause and record TV. It felt amazing to decide what you watched the selection was amazing. It was probably around here I stopped watching live TV.
But now it’s gone insane. At our house we have Netflix, Disney+, NowTV, Amazon Video and BBC iPlayer, all of which have thousands of programs we can watch whenever we like. So we now just browse for a TV series and watch it from start to finish whenever we find time to sit in front of the TV (which isn’t as often as it was). If we want the news or weather, I just pull it up on my iPhone. If I want to watch Gardeners world I just pull it up on iPlayer.
I wonder what it’s like in other countries. TV viewing habits have definitely changed a lot.

English Idioms - Cold Turkey And Tail Wagging The Dog ✔Lesson transcript: https://adeptenglish.com/lessons/english-idioms-cold-turkey/
So you’ve decided that listening to the English language is a good way to improve your English language skills. You’re keen to pour the new strange sounds and words into your pristine ready to learn brain. Great! But before you jump in, be mindful of what you are going to listen to. Even though today’s English language learning podcast is a nice and easy idioms topic. There are a lot of more complex things going on as you listen. The lesson is working on your unconscious mind, not just your conscious mind.
Obviously I’m going to suggest you listen to Adept English content. We provide exceptional English acquisition materiel all designed for learning a language through listening. However, being serious, you will also want to include other sources of audio and you need to be careful about what you choose.
I’ve mentioned comprehensible input in previous English lessons. Keep this in mind when you choose to input new English into your brain. Start with a single English speaker, preferably with a transcript you can use to look up any difficult or new vocabulary. I would also suggest you use audio from native English speakers. I’m not talking about accents here I’m talking about speakers for whom English is their first language.
It’s important to get as close to everyday English as possible. Try to find audio that’s just talking. You don’t want a lot of background noise, special effects or music playing, as these all affect your brain’s ability to single out and identify English language. I know people often turn to TV for input, but be careful what you choose, make sure the TV has closed captions and that these are accurate (They usually are full of mistakes!) Choose something that isn’t too distracting (No action films! No TV ads.)
I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.⭐ Groucho Marx
I know having pictures can help with providing context to the words you hear. You can sometimes guess what’s being talked about just by looking at the pictures, but it’s important to focus on the audio first, not rely on the images. Rather than guess, look up the words to be sure you understand what you are listening to.

Learn English 170 Podcast Holiday Conversation Topics In English
A free learn English quickly podcast lesson from Adept English.
Today’s conversation topics in English are about a short holiday to a UK seaside town called Bournemouth. You could not ask for a more traditional British seaside town than Bournemouth, it provides an excellent excuse to talk about something interesting while we learn to speak English.
Bournemouth is a seaside town with an oceanarium (a large aquarium full of sea creatures), Victorian houses, a university, a beach and lots of things to visit. Bournemouth is close enough to London to make a short trip worthwhile. Throw in using Airbnb to make it cheap as well and you have all the makings of a lovely weekend break. So much so we thought it would be worth using the holiday as English conversation practice.
At Adept English we believe you need interesting things to listen to when you practice your English language listening. If you ever stand a chance of listening to an audio recording, many times it must hold your interest and be worth your time. So we hope you find this one does both and we hope you understand why it is so important to listen many times. We have a whole course which explains why we ask you to do this here , and we produced a short podcast here which explains how to get the best out of our English language lessons.
This is why Adept English uses a system of learning to speak English called “Listen & Learn” which is all based on listening.
If you need to understand more about our teaching technique, then listen to this podcast which explains how to get the best out of our podcasts. We have lots more free podcast English lessons which focus on pronunciation you can download here .
