How the nervous system has 3 levels of function based on the level of threat: 1/social engagement - help seeking. If this fails then, 2/ fight and flight and if this isn't possible (common in childhood) then the default is 3/ freeze response How early adverse experience of loss, humiliation, disconnect (of even a 'normal' childhood can train the nervous system to detect threat at very low levels, taking the system into the lower two levels and how this causes problems in adult life. Symptoms of anxiety, pain and fatigue are commonly experienced by people Symptoms are the way your body gives you information about something needing looking at below conscious awareness.
