BOROBI
GC2018's mascot Borbi was born with all his Koala kin huddled around, utterly mesmerised by him and his very different paws. Each one bore unusual markings that Grandpa Koala, thought resembled drawings of the local people who spoke the Yugambeh language. Grandpa wondered if it could be a sign of great things to come.

Everyone is talking about granting vaccine exemptions in Australia. As a General Practitioner, I get asked this question often, so in today’s episode of Dr Nora I clear up some common misbeliefs and talk you through the official criteria for a vaccine exemption.
Vaccine exemptions are uncommon and are only given after much careful consideration by the patient’s medical team. All the information within this video has been taken from the Australian Government Department of Health and the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) and is current as of January 7th 2022. Please be sure to familiarise yourself with any new changes to the criteria if watching this video in future.

Join me as I try out some advanced skincare treatments for the first time, featuring both microdermabrasion and Low-level light therapy.
In case you don’t know, microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that gently exfoliates to smooth, brighten, and rejuvenate skin.
It achieves this by using a device which removes the outer layer of dead skin cells.
Low-level light therapy provides therapeutic use of light to the surface of the skin to help cellular function, reduce active acne and promote skin rejuvenation.
With these treatments there is no downtime and typically 4-6 treatments are recommended for best results.
It’s also a great complementary treatment to injectables.
Thanks to the lovely nurse @moanaford for the treatment ?

In today’s episode I breakdown a common skin infection - Genital Herpes.
Genital herpes is caused by the virus known as Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), of which there are two types, 1 and 2. HSV is a common Sexually Transmitted Infection, affecting up to 1 in 8 Australians over the age of 25.
Typically HSV 1 tends to affect the mouth area causing cold sores, and HSV 2 favours the genitalia. However due to changes in sexual practice, the two can be reversed.
The first episode of HSV 2 can be proceeded by a prodrome of feeling unwell, having fevers, chills, glandular swelling and general fatigue. Thereafter there may be some blisters and ulceration which can be sore, itchy and painful.
Usually patients will present to the doctor for treatment. This will usually encompass an examination, including a swab and medication which can take the form of an anaesthetic cream or anti-viral tablets. These will help to reduce the symptom duration. Usually the first episode will last up to 3 weeks.
HSV is transmitted through close skin to skin contact and so it is vital if you are affected not to engage in this practice until symptoms have resolved on the advice of your doctor. Transmission can also occur in asymptomatic people and so the best way to help prevent infection is to use barrier methods.
HSV remains dormant in the body after initial infection and can reoccur especially if your immune system is low or you are stressed. Typically recurrent episodes tend to be less severe and shorter in duration.
It is therefore important to lead an active and healthy lifestyle to reduce your chances of getting a recurrent outbreak.

Join me as I bake a healthier low calorie version of the classic Carrot Cake. A popular choice by many in the belief the carrots make it a healthier option, it is often laden with sugar, oil and butter.
In this episode, I share with you healthier alternatives to common ingredients to create this masterpiece whilst maintaining a genuine taste.
RECIPE AND METHOD
For the mixture:
- 3 Eggs
- 3 Grated Carrots
- 1 Tsp Fresh ginger
- 5 Dates cut in quarters
- 220g Pineapple mashed, without the juice
- 20g Walnuts
- 50ml Sugar-Free Maple syrup
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1 Tsp Bicarbonate of soda
- 2 Tsp Baking powder
- 2 Tsp Cinnamon powder
Mix the dry ingredients together and set aside. In a separate bowl mix the carrots, eggs, ginger, walnuts, dates, pineapple and maple syrup together. Once you have achieved an even texture add in the dry ingredients. Be sure not to over beat the mixture as the cake will loose its height.
Transfer the mixture into a baking tin and place in an already heated oven at 180 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until a knife can come out clean from the cake.
Set aside to rest and enjoy with a lovely cup of tea.
Please remember to always eat treats sensibly as part of a full healthy balanced diet and an active lifestyle.

In today's episode, we rejoin our beautiful model for anti-wrinkle injections to the upper face.
Our model wished to maintain movement of her upper face and so I've opted to use baby doses of anti-wrinkle to achieve a soft natural look.
TREATMENT
As you can see treatment time is fairly quick with initial inflammation post procedure expected to resolve after 10-15 minutes. Changes are expected to be seen around 3-5 days with optimal results at 2 weeks lasting 3-5 months in duration.
