On this episode of The Future of Thought Colton sits down with Matthew Harvey to discuss free speech and dangerous ideas in America, the role of social media in our dialogue today, the underappreciation of critical thinking education, the dangers of modern news approaches, debates around climate change, and much more.
Matt is a 5th year PhD Candidate and instructor in Political Science at CU Boulder. His research focuses on the intersection of environmental political theory and critical theory - namely, on the political attentiveness to environmental aesthetics in an era of climate change. (An example: how might we as a political community respond to apocalyptic sights like the skies in the American West during the 2020 fire season?). Outside of academia, he enjoys cooking, hiking, gaming, and other nerdy shenanigans.
